Doug has stated repeatedly that he tends not to repeat points covered by other channel members’ reviews, eg, why he won’t bother reviewing Episode 1 or TMNT3, because they’ve been reviewed to death.
Yes it’s a terrible adaptation but that shouldn’t be IT’S ONLY flaw. The acting is crap, The script is crap, The pacing is awful, There are plotholes the size of Texas you can not be an Avatar fan & still see that the movie is shit (look at the MAGfest review a few years back.) Talk about some of those rather then give the movie demerits for not including a filler character like Jet.
The movie was based off the show…The movie should be able to capture the essence of the show and put it to the screen…It did not, and that’s why it sucks so much. The Nostalgia Critic had to do so, because it’s an adaptation.
The Last Airbender sucks because it is possibly one of the worst adaptions of all time, missing everything possible about what made the show {one of the best animated shows of all time} so wonderful.
I know that, I’m just saying that we should stop this before I legitimately get Angry (During that Point, I’m pretty much Impossible to reason with)
I’m just going to go now
I’m not trying to piss you off. Anyway I honestly really shouldn’t be THAT harsh on that review I hate it sure but it’s still more infinitely watchable then his Eight Crazy Night review. Unlike LAB I’ve seen quite a large number of people hate that review so at least I’m not alone on that one.
Okay, This is starting to piss me off, So I think I’m going to leave before this gets out of hand
I have seen the show & by then I still hate the review. I stated the whole problem with it was that he solely focused on how it’s a crap adaptation & barley touched on any other problems & I hated the whole villifying M.Night since that was pandering to the lowest part of the fandom. Yes he took Avatar & destroyed any good chance of having a cool live action series of movies but I would rather have a good set of jokes rather then just hear “Hey remember that guy? He sucks & everything he did before & after this sucks too.” It was a cheap laugh & not a very good one.
Platypus bunny, It was from the Les miserables review, But It was used in this one mainly because of the animals in Avatar being Combinations of existing ones,
The Review would probably have been funnier if You’ve seen the show
I’ll admit him acknowledging the race angle in his skit was funny as well as the Duck….moose…..thing. But other then that I barley laughed. At least some of the episode after made up for it (Didn’t like his MoS review but I’ll give him credit for saying “look I don’t like this movie but I’m happy to see alot of people who do so I guess that count as something.” & The Christmas Tree while I think he was just a bit to harsh was still on ok review)
You have a bit of a point there,
But Avatar has become his Favorite show, Topping Daria, I’m not a fan of Avatar, And I still love that review for just the Sheer Passion He’s showing for his New favorite show,
It also has good jokes, A lot of His Comparisons to the Show can be treated as Criticism of it as a film (Like the Imprisoning the Earthbenders in a Quarry part)
Still a crap film should be criticise by it’s own crap merits not solely because it fails as an adaptation. Take something like Fox’s Fantastic Four. Do people hate it solely because it was a crap adaptation of the comics? No they also hate it because of the plotholes, hoaky acting, & the fact absolutely nothing happened in the movie.
A NC episode of LAB could’ve worked even if Doug didn’t vlog the series. It still has a larger set of problems other then being a crap adaptation that he could’ve focused on more. But that sadly didn’t happen.
Like Everyone has said,
A Big problem with the Movie is how badly it fails as an Adaptation, It woudn’t be nearly as worthy of a Nostalgia critic review if it wasn’t one
No….no he didn’t. All he did for a good 45 minutes was compare the show to the movie & how it fails at not being the show rather then failing on it’s own faults as a film. The ONLY time he criticise the film as a film was when it just involved how the characters weren’t actually characters. Other then that it’s either “In the show” over & over again or villifying M.Night for a few cheap shite laughs.
Look bottom line I hated that review so lets just leave it is as it is. I’m not doing a whole argument about it again.
…What Last Airbender review did you watch? Because Doug’s Review was Great,
He states why It fails as a Movie as well as an Adaptation
So yeah I don’t hate Doug Walker as much as I did prior. I just hate it when he goes into fan-pander mode in some of his review.
You might want to dial it down before “things” happen.
Don’t be a jerk.
Get lost before you get reported for starting shit.
Because he loves to pander his moronic fanbase ever since reviving his show into the unfunny husk we see today.
This.
Sturgeon’s Law, and all that.
he didn’t say all fan fics were bad he said they can be bad
