This somehow reminds me of a Donald Duck cartoon short that I have watched in my childhood, where Donald strips the military position that the three little ducks held, but then the three little ducks showed their bravery to defeat intruders, and the cartoon ended in Donald rewarding the positions back… I can’t seem to find the clip now.

Even if you are to posit that the Civil War was not just about slavery, I do not see anything positive or noble about the secession. The southerners wanted to protect their farms, homes, and states? From what? The only institutions that were in danger were those that involved slavery. Everything else the South supposedly fought to preserve they ended up losing specifically BECAUSE they seceded.
