He really does have skin of that color due to mixing up something (Which really is not colloidal silver?) and applying it to his skin, AND going into a tanning salon which “Set” it into his skin.

You know what I don’t get? Why is it that in their English dubs, they leave out dark and death-related tones (like saying “destroy” instead of “kill”), yet the 2003 TMNT series…retains that? Even one of the turtles says “sucks” (referring to being a cold-blooded reptile, in winter).

Yet they left Chocolove’s appearance untouched in Shaman King, even though he could be considered offensive. They only changed his name, to Joco.

Surprisingly, 4Kids let a lot of things slide in Shaman King, that they would certainly edit out in their other anime shows. Then again, it’s impossible to sweep the concept of death under the rug, when your show is based primarily around the concept of death.

I had almost forgotten about Blue Popo. Even Nickelodeon didn’t go that far with the censoring. Hell, aside from mistaking Bardock’s scar for a fresh cut in the first episode, they did a pretty decent job with the edits, and they certainly didn’t change the names of certain attacks.
 
Well, it’s not the first time 4Kids changed a character’s skin color…
