Confirmation of a downloadable archive of the whole thing is extremely comforting. It would have been a travesty to lose all of that content (in a collected format, anyway).

Both troll takedowns. Futashy has a new blog now, but for SmittyG it was a bit too much to keep going.
 
Not to say Hasbro isn’t evil in this regard, but they’re not much of a moral police, they just have some copyright lawyers that troll the net from time to time. They did manage to kill Fighting is Magic. There isn’t even a pseudo-moral excuse for this one, just plain malice and greed.
 
And JJ just throwing so many hours of his work into the trash, just… what artist can even do that?..

Oh well. There’s no low that people won’t sink to in order to spread their vision of good for everyone. Shutting down silly horse blogs that you’ve never even bothered to read is such a minor hypocrisy in the grand scheme of things.

from what i’ve heard, they’ve done it before. somebody feel free to correct me if i’m wrong, but many tumblr blogs like cartoon lion’s futashy and smittyg’s pet dash were taken down as a direct result of hasbro dishing out a cease and desist order. you do have a point though, it is entirely possible that a sjw posed as hasbro in an attempt to shutter the blog; pinkiepony was encouraging her derisory followers to do that exact thing. in any case, jj is now free to do what he wants to do and dwm still hasn’t really done shit to jj.

I wonder if it was like YouTube, where someone who just didn’t like the blog claimed to be Hasbro and shut it down. I would actually prefer that to Hasbro itself shutting it down. Even though the blog isn’t my thing, Hasbro exerting that kind of control over a Tumblr blog would be totally insane.

I guess if he was willing to give it a shitty half-assed send-off and not even bother keeping the blog up, then it really was time for him to stop. It’s just a disappointment that he deleted the blog rather than keep it up as an archive. His DA has work up from fucking 2003, so not one of those people who “takes things down”. It makes the move even more of a surprise.

it’s because tumblr was responsible for shutting down the blog, not joseco himself. nobody, save possibly for jj himself, knows for certain why the blog was taken down (most likely a hasbro copyright claim), so be wary of people jumping to conclusions about why/how it ended. plus, jj was wanting to end it anyways, so on the off chance that dwm was responsible (which imho is rather unlikely) it was a pyrhhic victory if anything.

The blog wasn’t my thing, although I did get an occasional laugh out of it, so I’m not incredibly saddened by this news, but why in the world is the blog itself totally shut down? Why not leave it up as an archive for those who do want to look at it??? That just makes no sense at all, unless it was shut down or something.
