I’d heard about that! It’s nice to hear he’ll be sticking around, even though he’s going to be busy with other things. Plus no one can find any stupid reasons to want Gamer Luna dead.
OK, well, I guess technically you could, but that doesn’t mean you should…
@ETech
He is continuing the gamer Luna thing, so don’t worry. And it is natural for artists to move on to other projects. Doing fanart can only get you so far.
I don’t really care too much one way or the other about Molly, but if what I’m hearing is true and he’s going to be trying to distance himself from MLP in the future, that means this fandom is going to lose one of its best artists.
@Derp Derp Derp
Yes! That’s the way humanity’s always done it. We’ve even developed a way to feel good about very obvious errors from the past and paint them in a good light. I’ve yet to master that technique though, it’ll probably come with time.
@Background Pony #B354
Of course there’s a difference. I understand the problem of ambiguity as well, words are tricky things to judge objectively. Nevertheless, the general principle falls under the banner of “The freedom of your fist ends an inch away from my skull.”
Molestia and JJ’s work in general were one of the core pillars of this fandom early in the day. So many artists, writers, musicians and blogs have already vanished.
@Draco_2k
I will focus really hard and use magic to create a 0.01 Earth Mass black hole inside your skull. This will instantly kill you, as well as anyone in your vicinity. This is not a joke, nor sarcasm, and definitely not hyperbole. I’m being deadly serious. I am going to kill you with magic.
Now, do you see why there’s a difference between a threat of harm and actually causing harm?
(PS: I’m still going to kill you with a black hole.)
i suppose this is a nice way of saying “that way i can live in a bubble and remain ignorant to the mistakes of the past, so that i can repeat them myself with a clear conscience”
@semerl
No, no. I mean actual threats. Not in text, not in humor, not sarcastic, not as a form of insult or anything else. Simply that the end of any personal freedom should be when that freedom is used to do harm, and death threats easily qualify. (Of course this can be twisted completely out of shape for being such a simple sentiment, that’s the problem with having rulers and laws in the first place.)
Just my idea of running society, of course. Never been a king. Could be hard work.
Personally, I see death threats as a proper exception to rule of free speech, as they communicate intent to cause harm.
Another exception is someone advocating taking someone else’s right to free speech, but that’s just for irony’s sake. It’s, you know, “What are you complaining about? Taste of your own medicine?”
