No, he wanted to give everyone the same natural abilities so that nobody would be more talented…and notice that he has no powers himself. The real Objectivism shines in the part where Dash complains about how he can’t run the race because he has superspeed, because it wouldn’t be fair to the other kids (aside from blowing their cover).
Though, the guy wanting to create a “objectivist” society where everybody could have superpowers was the villain, don’t forget.
Uh…far left? You sure you’re paying attention? This is classic Objectivist propaganda (as was The Incredibles, for that matter).
The picture says “magical princess”, though.
Oh yeah, it’d be super adorable.
I’d buy it, and I don’t even collect the toys.
I’m pretty sure they’re being facetious, but please don’t try to pretend the anti-Twilicorn folk never cause drama either… I’ve seen the term “Hasdrone” thrown around so much last year by people like Disneymaster, it just makes my eyes roll now.
Also, Twilight Sparkle’s still the same with, or without wings, and she’s hardly done anything “princessy” this season, so can we get over the whole “Pro-Twilicorn VS Anti-Twilicorn” crap?
I’m neither personally, I don’t care if she has wings, or not honestly. She could get green eyes for all I care.
All the “I hope this thing causes raging!” comments have been from the pro-Twilicorn camp.
Oh yeah, I’m sure only the Pro-Twilicorn fans caused all the “Twilicorn” drama last year… I wasn’t aware the “Union of Independent Bronies,” Jax, DisneyMaster, and such were “pro-Twilicorn”… (Sarcasm.)
Quit baiting…
What is it with pro-Twilicorns wanting the fandom to be torn apart?
Get your popcorn ready then.
What if she comes back as an alicorn princess? I can only dream of the butthurt and drama it will produce.
Also true. He’s so obsessed with delivering that final fuck you, that he either hasn’t realized the long term consequences, or more likely, just doesn’t care.
Or he’s saying it because (he thinks) it’d be one last ‘fuck you’ to his former idol and everything (he thinks) he stands for. The outcome of widely available supertech have no bearing on this. It’s not craziness being displayed there, it’s Lex Luthor levels of pettiness and spitefulness and underestimation of the hero’s goodness.
And that is why I viewed the line as insanity. Those last two points just showed us what could happen when someone gets artificial powers. So if everyone had powers, civilization would just end up ground into the dust in the massive Hero vs. Villain war that would ensue.
Bob wasn’t just encouraging Dash to use his super speed in races, he was also encouraging him to use it to play pranks. He was trying to live vicariously through him.
More importantly… notice how the bit about putting his supertech on the wider market came after his bits about A) how he murdered genuinely selfless people out of spite and B) how he was going to let a giant killbot loose on a major city, then “save the day” so everyone would love him. It was the cherry on top, a continuation of his “You hated me because I don’t have powers!” belief. As opposed to, say, telling him off because he kept interfering and made things worse.
I would tend to agree with you in principle, but the audio and visual cues seemed to be emphasizing danger during that scene, rather than madness. And it was reinforced by the the conclusion scene which, while necessary to wrap up Violet’s character arc, left Dash’s arc unresolved. Rather than competing at something that was an actual competition (like chess competition, where innate differences like intelligence would have shined) he merely pretended to compete, while highlighting his superiority.
