Dont blame the pony for poor writing. Twilight can be funny, adorkable and fun. When her personality is being written like that and not in one of the eight other ways its written.
In the end its just proof that MLP is just a pretty well-made kids show, and nothing more.
I dont think id have even paid much attention to Trixie if she wasnt so totally and unequivacally fucked over. I mean my god, i cant think of another (ostensibly non-villain) character in any kids cartoon who gets their life more destroyed by coming into contact with the hero.
This picture is right. Trixie deserves kudos for not having cut her own throat by now. She is to Twilight what Usain Bolt would be to the Flash.
Which is exactly why I dislike Twilight the most, really.
Up yours?
Twilight is my favourite character. However i like her a lot less when i feel she’s being handed shit instead of working for it.
Trixie is never stated as a ‘stage magician’ and in fact, isnt. Her magic is real. There is literally no difference, thats just her job. Its like saying Twilight is a librarian-magician because she primarily uses her magic there.
I get annoyed at how Trixie is treated in comparison to Twiligh because giving Twilight a realistic rival would make me feel less like my favourite pony is ridiculously mary-sue.
Trixie should be presented as a character who is skilled, intelligent, magical and a genuine rival. Then given a poor personality and lack of empathy to emphasize that it should be Twilight’s nature that makes her the better of the two.
Instead Trixie gets her ass continually handed to her by an upper-class fop whos never done a day of work in her life, and just makes me sort of embarassed to be a Twilight fan.

And compared to any other regular pony besides Twilight, she’s pretty damn good, not to mention far more versatile in her spell range.
Saying that Trixie can’t do magic because she’s not as powerful as Twilight is like saying that Cloudchaser can’t fly because she’s not as fast as Rainbow Dash.
This right here. Just about everybody is saying that she’s a shitty wizard when it was outright stated the moment she appeared that she was a stage magician. Of course the goddamn princess’ apprentice would be better than a magician.
Well, if Twilight is the best (stories have protagonists that might not be your favorite character? shocking!), she just is. That said, in “Boast Busters” the Mane 6 should probably have recognized that Trixie is a stage magician, whereas Twilight is an actual magician. (The Ursa thing just had it coming, though.)
Yes, that to.
As usual, hoping to see more Trixie and see how they flesh out the character. Boast Busters had her doing an act for all but a few scenes (between the Ursa crushing her home and her taunting Twilight and legging it) and Magic Duel only had her not-possessed for the last minute of the episode. Kind of annoying.

Writer/ultimate authority. Otherwise one could interpret the mandate coming from Celestia or something.
“Writer-mandated”? Well, who else would mandate it, the composer?
Dont forget the whole ‘carries on trying to be the best magician in equestria’ despite Twilight being the writer-mandated best magic-pone.
Trixie is an indomitable spirit, indeed.
Headcanon accepted.
True.
Say what you will about her, she has spirit.
Plus she’s best pony.
You probably won’t be able to try after that.
