From the “If Movies Made Their Symbolism Way More Obvious” Cracked photoplasty contest.
Even the 80s ‘toons made “just to sell toys” had some rad elements. We’ve just fallen that far that girls get treated like idiots by the toy biz, then grow up to be idiots like pp.
Nah, they don’t do that much anymore.
Now they just pander to tumblr.
You realize that they’re that thin so that they’re both easier to animate and mass produce? No one pitched a fit when they realized all of the ponies share the same four or five body types.
At least you admit Monster High is terrible. The weird thing is that EqG is one of the few exceptions of the “inspired material” being superior to the original. Still would rather have more FiM though.
FIM is a finely crafted cartoon made by an all-star cast. It doesn’t look like a “toy commercial” at all because it was made by people who wanted to make a genuinely good cartoon, and the toy line tie-ins are kept to a minimum, or worked into the show in clever ways.
EQG on the other hand, screams “corporate mandate” because it’s so painfully similar to Monster High. They both feature highschool settings with a bit of fantasy, they both feature anorexically thin teenage girls, they’re both being made solely to push a toy line, and they’re both terrible.
Most things don’t continue if they don’t make money…including clickbait dependent sites like Cracked.
This pic is funny because of the holier than thou attitude from a user of perhaps the biggest “we’re only in it for the money” sites to ever exist.
That’s somehow true, i mean (and sorry i really need to emphasize the fact that i dont intend to start drama with the sentence i’m about to type) that’s the point of the show, selling toys.
Of course it’s true, everybody should know that by now. The point is though, that Cracked still likes to dis ponies and the fandom to make themselves look cool and edgy.
Well, they would be right, actually. You can’t really deny that the show was only made for money. It just turned out to be good. YMMV on Equestria Girls, though.
If it fit within their clickbait schedule, of course.
