Don’t start it ,please (ps im another BP)
The only bad part of that episode was the cornball wink at the camera on fadeout.
They hate the show? XD
I think it’s more of a case (at least with the more vocal members) of the users disliking what the fandom does. Princess Molestia, for example is something a handful of people there really dislike.
If there was an episode most people can all agree on (maybe 2 or 3/5ths), it’s the Mare Do Well episode. The members there who dont like it say the moral’s bad and in my opinion, ill take entertainment over bad morals so im okay with the episode.
Yeah, they don’t hate the show* but they certainly hate anyone who doesn’t rigorously conform to their dictatorial world view. They’re like the North Korea of the fandom.
not one earthie
Wait,wait,wait is that the same Roundstable we talking about ? As in the same website who post interview of the staff and review of episode,you say they hate the show why if they hate the show would they waste their time posting analysis and other stuff and making a whole website and moderating forums about a show they dont like (if it’s the same website we talking about,i’ve been there and from what i read its not always bashing episode and stuff)
Yeah, there’s that. But I personally could see the problem some people have with foalcon.
Creating arbitrary lines doesn’t help anyone - it just devalues the idea of drawing lines in the first place. Some people may think “well, I already broke all those other stupid rules - what’s the harm in breaking one more slightly less stupid one?” You end up diluting legitimate rules in a sea of stupid crap.
I draw and fap to almost anything, as long as it’s imaginary. My moral code is quite simple really: don’t hurt people.
I can see the line they don’t want to cross, but it’s already weird to a majority if society to begin with.
It’s almost cute, in a sinister, oppressive way. They’re like a forum full of isolated rednecks who think that saying “I met a gay guy once and didn’t punch him in the face.” makes them progressive liberals.
“You can’t even mention JJ without the fear of offending somebody.”
Didn’t Thomas Jefferson once say something along the lines of “You aren’t living in a free society unless you’re offended twice a day”?
These spoiled children need to suck it up and learn that people aren’t going to see everything the way you do 100% of the time, so fucking deal with it.
@Deadpon3
“lets just throw random shit and see what works”
Congratulations, you’ve discovered what every writer ever has gone through at least once! Aren’t you just the smartest, specialist snowflake ever?
Certainly smarter than those dirty, brainless hasdrone sheeple!
It has glaring flaws with the system and users but i still respect the most of the admins’ beliefs (who want to have a safe environment), their off topic subforums (game discussion, life, etc) are really nice to have and unlike previous FiM forums, there is a higher frequency of good debates and discussion.
Not trying to sell you the forums and its flaws could overshadow its better aspects for people but im just saying why i still stick around there (i come here because i enjoy the less controlled content. Just to balance things out)
Sorry, but:
@Background Pony
I agree with this BGP. TRS just isn’t the kind of place that sounds reasonable.
I dont know about that. Probably the artists there might feel s bit jealous. I can totally see users i know who’d have problems with that. You cant even talk about JJ’s works anymore without fearing that you might offend someone there. They might think you’re fine with an artist who does Molestia or they might think you were living under a rock while the DWM thing occured.
The forum does ban you for being associated with foalcon or lolicon. Braeburned, KevinSano, and two others got banned, nostalgiaSchmalz got banned when someone found out he did foalcon clopfics.
I was with a forum meetup when Braeburned joined the forums and a handful of the people i met were in favor of telling the admins that Braeburned has done foalcon before (others like me remained silent because it would make things awkward for the meetup). I personally think it’s rather too harsh and the one who really tried getting him off the site admitted that Braeburned is a nice guy but the rules are more important.
I havent seen any artists who done clopart from the forums yet. They’re safe artists, at least to my knowledge but someone did say something like:
“Even though we have some clop artists, at least they dont do foalcon”
That sounds like a horrible place. I really hope they keep their “ivory tower” status, because that way they’ll be too elitist to ever mix with the rest of the fandom. We can just live happily pretending they don’t exist.
They don’t know what to do anymore so they just said “fuck it, lets just throw random shit and see what works”
Nothing, he’s just trying to sound smarter than he really is.
Fine with being holier-than-thou…
They’re too far gone.
It’s actually something the admins tried to address last month. They created two threads to try and solve a.) the inner problems of the forums (toxicity, negativity, speaking behind people’s backs) and b.) the admins actually wanted users to stop treating TRS as an ivory tower because it’s making them look bad in front of places like this,
Some users were fine being white knights because they think being anti-clop and pro-DWM is a serious obstacle in the fandom. They dont care if they’re holier than others and they’ll happily admit that over being apathetic to the issue.
But i actually dont know what was the result of these two threads. There hasnt been another case like DWM yet to test if it helped or not.
What do you mean by ‘too hard’, exactly?
