After so many years you think she had fun experiencing being a ‘mom’?
Eeeyup.
I guess, as long as she is actually not doing any of the raising, just feeling like she does.
Well at least it would be a fertile ground to form a deep bond, a girl who feels like Mother, but in the end does none of the work. Still, maternity ensues.
Even if she is a child who was mature for her age, she couldn’t take care of another child.
The same Princess that let the most dangerous criminal in equestria practically loose in ponyville, irresponsibility is Celestias trademark. Besides Twilight was no idiot… I think. She would know that Spike was another intelligent being and would take care of him as such, again, she is no ordinary mare.
Who in their right mind makes a little girl raise a child? Spike’s not a pet, he needed to be actually raised, not carried around by another child.
I dont get why is it so difficult to believe that, in the end Twilight demonstrated that she was an extraordinary filly. Besides Celestia would say that caring for another living creature would be like a “Responsibility Test” or something like that. And come on, what little girl, no matter how mature doesnt fall for something as cute as a first born? It isnt difficult to picture Twilight puppy eyeing her parents to let her keep him.
Give Celestia some credit. She wouldn’t start doing that to Twilight until Twilight was old enough that she didn’t need to be tucked in at night herself.
Besides, we all know that Spike would have starved to death if Twilight had been in charge of his upbringing.
Wait a minute…so you’re saying you “can’t” see Celestia dropping some considerably difficult task down on someone (a task not even she is 100% confident about) saying how she “trusts” their ability to accomplish said task…and then just leaving, by excusing herself with some important royal duty she has to attend to leaving them dumbfounded?
Im sorry, but I’d actually have trouble picturing the opposite.
It’s kinda sad sad that it’s pretty hard to tell.
Princess Celestia, being well a princess, makes it hard to believe she’d really have time to take care of him. Swarm of the century even shows that plans to simply visit a town are thwarted by business to take care of her other subjects. So it’d be hard to make time to raise a baby, since it’d be too dangerous to bring with her on business. Plus it doesn’t help that in the Secret of my Excess spike says that only twilight’s ever given him a gift on his birthday. Celestia, a princess, couldn’t even get spike a gift. That’s sad, if she really was his mom.
I guess in the end, the show would have to think of something.
I’ve always imagined him in a playpen that’s being shielded by Shining Armor. And sometimes, he gets out…
That gives me the mental image of hatchling Spike playing with toys while under the watchful eyes of several armed guards, who tremble the whole time and flinch whenever he yawns.
For what it’s worth, I can’t see Celestia putting him into someone else’s custody until she knew that Spike wouldn’t be a danger.
I like to believe he’s pretty much Celestia’s son. But the show would never touch on anything like that.
