You’re absolutely wrong Sunset Shimmer. Girls are supposed to fart too! Especialy the girls!

Fluttershy: Um… I can understand if you don’t want to be friends with me.  
Sunset: Why wouldn’t I? If anything I should be the one worried about that.  
Fluttershy: Well… seeing as how I fart when girls aren’t supposed to…  
Sunset: Fluttershy, I only said that to try to make you feel bad. You know how awful I was then. We all fart. Even Rarity. ESPECIALLY Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie. They actually got me to have a farting contest with them the other day, and they beat me easily.  
Fluttershy: Really?  
Sunset: (farts, then blushes, giggling nervously)  
Fluttershy: (gives Sunset a hug)

Tell me you’re being sarcastic. Because everywhere else I’ve looked for answers to this mystery I got the same answer, which isn’t even supposed to be so mysterious because while male and female anatomy isn’t exactly the same, we all have the same digestive system.
 
So, both Fluttershy and Sunset fart when they’re not on screen. Of course, Fluttershy and Rarity probably fart silently every time. Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie probably have fun with it.

Wait, do they fart or don’t they? I’ve seen people say both, I’m not sure what to believe.

I thought so for so long. Even now I’m still not a hundred percent sure I can believe that they do. But if Fluttershy can fart, why can’t Sunset?

One of my coworkers has a tee shirt that reads “Women don’t spit, belch or break wind. If we didn’t bitch, we’d explode.”

Hmm, if girls aren’t suppose to fart. Then they must let out the excess “air” by some other means.
