After some pony to look after me as well as another quote from AJ “just as cute as Apple Bloom when she was born” along side AJ’s reluctance to get involved with anyone, and the way she looks at Big Mac differently even giving him bedroom eyes while talking about romance in Apple Family Reunion and a host of other things I’m more than likely reading too much into but still exist all throughout the series, I’m more than willing to bet that Apple Bloom is secretly AJ’s and Big Macs kid at least in equestria but she was raised as a sister due to the age she was born as well as her parental lineage. Much like how it’s been strongly hinted that the CMC cutie marks will be Sweetie Bell a microphone for singing, Scootaloo a wrench for mechanics, and Apple Blooms will involve potions because she has mixed more than a few in the course of the show.

Maybe Apple Bloom was born when AJ was in Manehattan.
 
But, since i see the CMC as being younger than Spike, maybe her parents were just at home, doing important stuff.
 
Or maybe Apple Bloom is Granny Smith s’ kid, who gave birth to Big Mac from a father hailing from another time period (time travel thanks to the TARDIS), then Applejack was adopted as a stand-in for Apple Bloom, and finally Apple Bloom had her memories erased and turned into a very little filly.

That’s like saying cropping out death in a grimdark comic makes it not grimdark anymore, or if someone drawing a Fallout Equestria comic crops out the OC characters makes it not need the tag, or editing in a subway sandwich to censor a image makes it clean.
