Is it me, or does Spike look exceptionally creepy here? He looks like about 2 seconds away from gnawing Twilight’s face off.

People are really torn about the crossover part. Some people love it, others hate it. However, the one thing we can all agree on, is that Double Rainboom did not live up to what it was advertised as.  
People were told it would feel like a real episode. Even though in a bunch of instances the aesthetics were the same as in the real show, this was only the case for some individual screenshots, not the awkward animation. The fact that the voice acting, although not bad, was obviously not done by the voice actors from the show, (and Twilight’s hushed shouting, ugh! That’s what amateurs do! If you’re gonna shout, freaking SHOUT!) didn’t help either, because it kept pulling people out of whatever plot was burried beneath all the brony references.  
As for the story itself, the PPG were in character and the premise was mediocre, not bad. I am not a big fan of crossovers, since it seems only anime can do that right. However, if you’re going to do a crossover with MLP, PPG is probably going to be the better option.  
I was actually more entertained by the animation in the Townsville sequence than the Ponyville one.  
What I am trying to say is that the final product was in that uncanny valley area. It was nowhere near bad, its quality was definitely better than most other fan animations’, but it just didn’t live up to the real thing.

Double Rainboom flopped because it was Cartuneslover16 type crossover fanfiction. Not only could I write better, but I actually have written better fanfics. Nothing published, but even /mlp/ liked it better than Double Rainboom. Would just be considered a ripoff of the CMC micro now if I ever fleshed it out, though.

Me neither; creeps me out. There’s a fine line between realistic art, detailed art, cartoony art, legit art and uncanny valley. This is usually the part where the art is too good to be considered “normal”, but also does not quite live up to the real deal.  
This is imo also why Double Rainboom flopped the way it did.

I don’t know in which position he’ll be yet, but I’ll think of something. Above all, I’m going to try to make him adorable, hopefully while avoiding uncanny valley territory.
