Well she was adopted. she was based on a combination of Robin and what Tad Stones thought his own daughter would be like at Gosalyn’s age
Now that I’ve been watching more Canterlot episodes, this seems to be true. But there are also a lot of Earth ponies there (I assume Hoity Toity and Photo Finish are from there or something?)
Ramsay Pony always be like that, bruh.
Canterlot seems to be a predominantly unicorn city.
Or maybe I’m just looking at the panels in Canterlot.
That and Gordon Ramsay over there swearing every few seconds…

(Of course, Inkwell had nothing to do with the outbreak, so my ire wouldn’t be on her.)
Given how this story is based, the pop culture gags are well used. They are heavy in the first 8-some pages when this could be seen as a humorous scene, but immediately scaled back to let the story be the driver in the back 2/3rds.
There were plenty of points to put more pop culture refs later, but they only dropped a few and it works well.
