But we still have memories, good arts and comics, good asks or whatever you call it
old man henderson won call of cthulu
to me it sounds like a bunch of players who don’t like a dm fudging numbers.
the screen is there for a reason, final encounter, the dm crti fails and the bad guy basically dies before the party gets close.
or
a string of crits kills a well stacked player on what should have been a non eventful filler fight to the end.
no screen means these happen, a screen means the player doesn’t die and the bad guy doesn’t die in a laughable way.
when the dm rolls a number that is stupid high, and anyone would call bullshit on, they have the ability to lift the screen, if they don’t, call them out on it till they do.
all in all, the dm isnt suppose to be against the players in a game with a screen. or even a game with a narrative.
if you are doing a straight home brew dungeon crawl, sure, but you can’t use a screen if you are playing against the players.
Pretty sure it’s a joke, peeps! Cool your bits!
Literally the first thing I thought of.
“You each shall lose… (rolls a 2) …20 life points! Bwahahahaha!”
Often leading to hilarious results at the same time.
I didn’t want to type as much as you just did, but you summed up my views on the subject perfectly. Well said.
It comes down to the gaming contract. Are you and your players there to try out builds, tinker with concepts, and experience risk and reward in a probability framework? Then dice-fudging is very bad. Are you there to tell a collaborative story? Dice fudging may happen so often you hardly need them.
Unfortunately, Twi’s approach to GMing is a classic mistake made before she even came to the table; she regards herself as competing with the players, using the rulebook as her weapon. Nobody else seems to be having fun; this is a game that people will quickly start avoiding.
I still swear that in The Dark Knight, it looks like the coin lands unscratched side up when he shoots Batman. :I
If she makes the roll, let’s say a ten or higher, then Twi will tell her the answer out of character so she can answer in character. BUUUT DM’s are always, FUCKING ALWAYS cheating assohles.
So what they are doing in this comic, is a kind of “if I roll 1-5, the riddle is answered correctly, and if I roll 6-10, it’d not”?
That brings up the argument of roleplay vs. “roll”play. But let’s not do that here. Once you fall into that abyss you ain’t ever coming back.

FFFFFFUUCK YOU TWI!
