This is the response I got from someone when asked about pinkiepony and her hilariously improbable little story about being harassed in a changing room. I included Purple Tinker’s response, as well as making note of pinkiepony’s post that’s laughing about a little boy being molested, since I guess to her, rape jokes are perfectly fine if it’s a male that’s the victim.
Do they not even realize how appalling their behavior is? I had been very calm, rational, and factual, without making generalizations. This is the type of reply I get? Pathetic.

I frankly don’t care in the least how terrible a few neo-feminists on tumblr think we are. You have to realise that we disagree about some fairly fundamental premises, such as what constitutes harm, so it’s unlikely that any reasonably compromise or agreement can be reached. If the fandom disgusts you so much, I suggest you stop browsing sites devoted to it.
Meanwhile, you’re taking your time to deliberately go to a place you dislike just to seek out something related to your “movement” in order to leave a message.
The fact remains that I have been calm, rational, and logical, have poked holes in your logic, disputed your “facts”, and you can’t cope with the idea that you’re in the wrong here.
If only you put this much effort into helping real victims, which your “movement” has yet to actually do. I’m sure they really appreciate all your little drawings and bingo cards, and focusing your attack on a single fan base instead of the actual problem. It’s TOTALLY helping them.
By the same logic one could argue that violent games should be banned because they create a “violence culture” which provides cover for those who do commit violent acts.
I’d even go as far as to say the the “violence culture” is a lot more real than the “rape culture” we hear so much about.
You’re wrong about the first part; trivializing rape is a genuine issue. Much more so than violent games turning people violent, because it doesn’t make anyone do anything, it just makes for a setting where those who do commit rape end up having cover so to speak.
You’re unfortunately more or less right about the latter, because there are a ton of badly thought out personal crusades for social justice like the whole DWM thing that achieve little or nothing, and make people dismiss the whole issue as petty attention-seeking.
then post a compilation, not just one.
Sorry, but that sounds about as plausible as the “violent games turn people into murderers” rhetoric. It might be true in an astronomically small number of cases, but in general it isn’t.
In general, if a campaign is affecting vastly more innocent people than problem individuals then it is just going to backfire and annoy people. From what I’ve seen the majority of “anti-rape” campaigns have little or nothing to do with any actual rape, but rather attack tangentially related concepts such as gamer slang, facebook slang (frape), Molestia, etc.
A gem with no apparent value?
No, “rape culture” is a real thing. It’s a shorthand for saying that we live in a culture where rape and sexual violence are officially condemned, but in practice frequently excused (victim blaming is the big thing here), trivialized (such as by using “rape” to mean “defeat” in gamer lingo) and even tolerated.
What it doesn’t mean that all the men are rapists or rape apologists, or that liking fiction that happens to include sexual violence is intrinsically bad. Unfortunately, some people on either side of the argument tend to use it in that sense, muddying the waters and making it harder to get a real, reasonable discussion going.
Hit the nail on the head there…
I don’t have the best idea, but I can only assume that it’s some made-up feminazi buzzword based around the idea that all men want to rape everything 24/7 and are therefore trying to create a culture that normalizes it, or something equally pants-on-head-retarded to that general theme.
I’m from the ADHD culture myself. Real struggling to focus on the main….ooo a nickel!
“Hi there! I was raped!”
“OOOOOOOOH NO WAY! ME TOO!”
I’m not trying to be funny but when I hear that word that’s all I can think of, but with that logic.
I’m from the Cancer culture.
:I
As much as I’d like to say this is a generalization, I received multiple comments from others that were even more vulgar and moronic.
its only showing the idiocy of only ONE person who isnt even relevant.
avoid generalizing. that shit is nasty.
@Background Pony
“They’re just raising awareness of something that’s potentially harmful”
im waiting for that awareness campaing…
last i checked she went about it in totaly fuck up way.
How does one report a blog on tumblr anyway? I don’t see any report links anywhere.
So much fer her saying she’s not trying to shut it down.
Let me just stop you right there.
sarcasm
The one behind it keep saying it’s not about JJ’s blog as all, but keep pointing to it.
I know, I’m just fucking with the guy.
No no no, their movements isn’t about censoring that blog at all.
By being a hypocritical bitch and insulting people?
So they’re trying to censor it?
Fucking hell.
They’re not shutting it down. They’re just raising awareness of something that’s potentially harmful. All they want JJ and others to do is to focus on a better concept.
