Well, it as an “alternate universe” so it makes sense. Plus I think most fans forget that the whole “Dinky being Derpy’s daughter” thing was never canon in the first place, just fanon. Fans just jumped to that conclusion ‘cause they’re the same color.

Ironically, though most of the ponies are never the same color as their parents. The only exceptions being for Rarity & Sweetie who are both white like their father, and Pumpkin Cake (one of the Cake twins) is yellow like her Daddy Mr. Cake.
