And that’s how Lil’ Miss Rarity was born.

All the wal-marts in my area tried to completely eliminate greeters as a cost cutting measure. Shoplifting INSTANTLY shot up like 300% at all the locations that were part of the test. Their solution was to rotate people off of the already low number of people running registers and have them kind of awkwardly hang back from the doors without greeting you for an hour or two.

They already have more security cameras than any other store I know. I feel intimidated even though I’m doing nothing wrong.

We have them here in the US, at least at the sufficiently busy locations.
 
They aren’t actually there to greet you, though. They’re there to help deter people from shoplifting since they’re watching the doors.

German store clerks are the most illtempered and grumpy people in the world. The German-American comedian Gale Tufts once remarked that germans do not want it any other way.

Store visits would increase, but they’d have to replace them very quickly from all of us running off with them.  
In the end, only the worst ponies would be left and visits would be right back where they were before.

Depends on the Pony really. I think Rarity would go slowly insane working at Walmart and being forced to look at the sort of hideous things people wear when going to Walmart (not judging anybody, I speak from personal experience here).
 
Pinkie would probably be good at it what with her being super friendly and all, though I can’t help but think she’d get bored and wander off pretty quick.
 
Fluttershy and Dash are right out because one would get terrified and hide, and the other wouldn’t have the patience.
 
I think Applejack would do alright as a Walmart greeter. She seems like the kind of pony who will take on any job and do her best at it.

They wouldn’t look like the show. They would look like real horse.

Do they have that in the US?  
I was in a german Walmart last month and we don’t have any greeters.
