Day 43,

I’ve run out of dye. My coat has already started to make its journey back to its original color, to make no mention of how far my tail and mane have gone. The special grooming I’ve taken up and the scents of my neighbors should keep me safe for a few more days, but the longer I’m amongst them, the more obvious their suspicion becomes.

How much longer will they be fooled? I’m not certain I want to know the answer. But I have no choice. I have to keep the ruse up for as long as I can, lest they find me. I can only hope that, when the time comes, the den will leave me just enough of an opening to escape. That I can slip through their paws and noses to safety.

I’ll have to hope… that I can outfox them all.
