You know, the more I think about it the more convinced I am that FS wasn’t even supposed to be a separate character but instead was just going to be altworld Shining Armor, until the cocksuckers in the hasbro marketing department (who are really the ones responsible for this awful movie to begin with) Said “Nay-nay-nay! We need a love interest because its a high school drama and cliche #5825 says that all high school dramas MUST have a love interest for the main character” so at the last minute not-shining armor became Flash Sentry.

  1. Because shippers are desperate for any canon ship involving one of the main characters.
     
  2. Because Dreamy Cutebottom is an inoffensive cipher, meaning that people can project themselves onto him and imagine they’re the ones Twilight is smitten with.

    (I’m guessing that these are ranked in order from most important to least important reasons, though it could be my opinion of brony fandom is still too optimistic.)
