Maybe? According to Twilight Sparkle in the trailer, Cutie Marks appear when ponies do something they love so much that it awakens some kind of magic deep in their hearts.
It’s possible that their intention is to rework the whole concept of Cutie Marks. They’re calling it a rebrand, after all
I completely agree. Something that also bothers me about this concept is the fact that the sole purpose of this camp is for ponies to get their Cutie Marks. What about discovering and developing their talents? Not everypony gets their Cutie Mark knowing what they want to do.
