Do you even know what a Mary Sue is? Hint: it’s not just a powerful, or even overpowered, character.
It would be better if they did a complete reboot from the very beginning with their new lore and characters. But it turns out that they ruined the end of G4, they can’t develop because they are constrained by the framework of the last generation and can’t properly show old characters and locations due to legal restrictions and copyrights.
This is just an alternate thumbnail the artist made based on an earlier concept for the episode that would have had some sort of cameo of Celestia and Luna
The animatics prolly won’t state it’s the one and only them most likely. Like I said, Not-Celestia and Not-Nightmare Moon.

I suspect this episode was originally intended to feature Nightmare Moon and Celestia, but due to the issue of not being able to directly reference any G4 characters (at least not without paying some kind of royalty, from what I’ve heard), they slightly edited it just enough to remove all G4 references and yet have the episode still make sense.
Don’t know what’s the real context here. Is it really Nightmare Moon and Celestia or their expies?
