Yeah, because the rest is irrelevant because that one point is incorrect. I remember before I blocked all those channels from my YT feed, I saw a comment from one that out and out said they hate G5 (and this was after only a few things had premiered, long before G5 got shafted by Hasbro)

There are certainly some brony “analysts” on YouTube that would beg to differ
Even they don’t seem to necessarily hate G5 proper. It’s the way G5 was sabotaged. “A New Generation” proved G5 was a viable commodity and that Hasbro could do animated movies and TV shows in-house like Disney. Then CEO Bran Goldner died, Chris Cocks took over, and the full potential G5 had to offer was squandered all because Cocks wanted Hasbro to be a toy company, period.

That’s the thing, why do I still bother? It’s not like you can change people, they can only do it themselves. So we’re done here. I’m not giving these guys 5 years as that’s clearly doing nothing as demonstrated by that guy who since left. 7 whole years and his opinion remains the same because that’s how his perception and life is.

Hey, I mean, freedom of expression is a double edged sword - sure, people have the right to draw things how they like, but then correspondingly others have the right to criticize it.
We weren’t talking about not being able to criticize, we were talking about shoving your crazy theories down people’s throats, trying to gaslight them and calling it a constructive criticizm.

Wow, if you can’t see the difference between typical black traits (the hairstyles) that are a point of pride in the black community and racist stereotypes assigned by white society such as that, all I can say is, you have completely lost the plot.
A character being black coded is your headcanon and it does not mean others will share your opinion. You are acting like it is a universal truth and anyone who disagrees with your way of thinking must be reprimended.
Okay, I can see I’m going to have to be blunt about this. It’s not a difference of opinion to point out traits that are associated with blackness, you’re simply factually wrong. (But hey, if that’s your prerogative…)

I mean, sure, it would have been a valid option for Andy to not respond, but it would have gone a long way if his response had been along the lines of “sorry ‘bout that, I was just working off the reference material Hasbro gave me - please try not to hold that against me” from the beginning.

The more wholesome and positive the source material is, the more toxic and edgier people it attracts. Same applies vice versa and ironically it’s the better cycle than if the source material was happier.
All in all, 2 points to be made.
  1. Treat everyone equally fair, positive and negative, regardless of any traits unique to them because we are all human and not like “I’m an Asian guy, I clearly deserve privilege to steal something because I’m also poor!”. No exceptions.
  2. Misty doesn’t deserve haters but she doesn’t like overly supportive stans either. I guess we truly learnt nothing from F&M.

Also, I must genuinely ask, do you know what “coded” means? It’s not saying Misty is black, just that she has so many features typically associated with being black (her cornrows especially). It’s like saying Zipp is trans coded - it’s not saying that she is trans, just that she has certain features that correspond with being transgendered.

I’d be more forgiving if it was an amateur hobbyist, or it happened IRL (so the response happened in real time) but Andy is a professional - he gets paid to do that. I understand if he was stung by the criticism, but he’s gotta, at most, write down his initial response, take some deep breaths, then delete it and write a more measured response (like the second response he made). That’s the beauty of online text conversation - you get more of a chance to edit yourself, go for a more measured tone.
