I guess you didn’t read the Crystal Heart Spell book, in which it’s revealed that Cadance used to be an orphaned pegasus until she defeated an evil witch and was made a princess as a reward?
Of course that same book had Trixie as a villain again so I don’t blame you if you consider it non-canon to the show.
