They have the Sleight of Hoof skill as CLASS SKILL.
Also, less a deus ex machina since we see Pinkie wiggling in #7.
Because Pinkie is a genius and saw that they had to first realize the power of friendship while they had some time to talk, otherwise they wouldn’t have been able to beat Nightmare Rarity. Also it gave time for Spike to catch up with them. Yep, stickin’ with that. Pinkie’s too smart to be dumb. XP
Okay, not going to lie, I hate it when stuff like this happens. yes, there is nothing to defend Pinkie not just giving up the key the moment she got it, instead of waiting for Spike to save them. Though, the comic would be several pages shorter.
The idiot ball is a tool used for plot reasons. And, in this particular case, it wasn’t done for comedy, so that justification is not even close.
@Background Pony
Actually, it’s more for comedy/plot reasons. Like in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The rabbit could have just taken his hand out of the handcuffs at any moment, but he didn’t.
I think it’s mentioned that the cells have a special magic around it, to prevent unicorns from doing spells.
her winking to the camera after saying “that dingus wiggled into me and dropped the key” sounds like an innuendo…
Because, in good FiM tradition, someone must carry the idiot ball.
She could’ve had twilight levitate it to the keyholes, and unlock the cells.
