I have a little bit of a theory; dragon mothers tend to visit a certain designated ground when they’re laying their eggs. They can also tell when their eggs are “defective”. Spike’s mum could tell that he was going to be a weakling (no wings) and abandoned him. Ponies looking for eggs for the exam might now very little about dragons, but they might now where defective ones are left, and take the eggs from there.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

I wasn’t passing judgement on Celestia with that post friend. I was just saying, from a legal point of view, what Celestia did would very easily qualify as kidnapping, though I’m sure she did so with only the best of intentions.

We know next to nothing about dragon culture; in fact, the ponies seem to know very little about dragons, as well. On the other hand, we’ve seen Celestia consistently portrayed as caring and wise.

Granted, the fandom’s been portraying Celestia as a secret tyrant almost from the beginning, so adding kidnapping to that would be just a drop in the bucket…

One could easily interpret claiming a lost child as your own, then handing it off to a third party as abduction.

Where did these pages come from anyway? I’m interested how canontical this stuff is.

The library sketch looks awesome.

So Spike was found as an orphan egg, huh? I always thought he was abducted by Celestia.
