I don’t really see what the problem is, it’s been known since the first season that Ponies don’t eat meat (debate about whether they could the way horses in our world can aside, in Over a Barrel it’s specifically mentioned that they don’t)
So in this case there’s probably a wild turkey migration that passes by around this time and Ponies share a bit of corn and cranberries with them so they can survive the winter better
