Ah so Maggy vera is the director! It makes sense EqG comes only in dvd. Discovery Kids really isn’t the place for a teen drama even if MLP related. Now Boomerang on the other hand…

I said I did not think this could be released subbed on cinema. And it hasn’t been dubbed, so this whole première on Latinamerica makes no sense.

When did he said that? And why would Hasbro only release it subbed? It might end up as direct to dvd but it would at least be dubbed, I think. I mean there’s no precedent for a cartoon movie to get a wide commercial DVD release in LatinAmerica with only the English track and subtitles.
 
And it might even be transmited in Discovery Kids. When I first saw this I imagined EqG released in Cinepolis Theaters around Mexico. That was a scary thought.

Here secundaria is from 14/15 to 17/18 but for all morals pourposes, they are +18.
 
Also, anyone has more information about this? The VA director for Latinamerica said EqG will be launched dubbed directly to DVD. I don’t think Hasbro will show this kind of movie subbed.

That’s what I’ve been thinking and it begs the question, why should they EG in High School instead of College?, at least it’d have made much more sense…., and besides, just because it’s unmarketable with them on College doesn’t mean it won’t work…..

That depends of the Latin American country.
 
Here in Venezuela for example,we don’t call it “Preparatoria” but “Ciclo Diversificado”.
 
I guess they use “Secundaria” to refer to both Middle school and High school?
 
But looking at this pic,yes,it should correspond to “Preparatoria” since is a name Latina Americans use for “High School”.
 
And I think that Hasbro or whoever came up with the whole Equestria Girls idea simply screw it up,because we all know that they pretty much young adults officially.I suppose they didn’t saw that as marketable,so they just messed up with that aspect a bit in order to push the whole High School setting without making it feel awkward.
 
However,that doesn’t mean that our regular ponies are teenagers now.

Also I’m pretty sure the main cast are in their 20s and none of EG is supposed to make any sense at all. Just look at Spike, he’s a now a dog. He’s gone from a creature that lives hundreds of years to one that’s lucky to make it to 15. And he looks like a puppy, something the 8-12 year old Spike wouldn’t look like if directly age translated.

I am aware of the differences. Fifteen would make her a freshman or sophomore. Still old enough to be in high school.
 
I don’t recall anything anywhere saying what grade Twilight was in, aside from this.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say something else, thanks for reminding me indirectly :) , for a reason or another, when translating from English to Latin American Spanish, they always manage to screw up thinking High School is Secundaria, when it’s actually Preparatoria, just a heads up, but yeah, Twilight’s now either 15 or 16 years old, but I always saw her as in early twenties, College Age to be precise…..

The American school system is different from the Spanish one. Twilight is a senior in the school, 17 or 18.

I’ve generally thought of them as teenagers, but not quite that young.

Let me clarify ya, this is the school system in Latin America in general, explained in the American way, I’m Mexican, by the way, Chihuahuense to be exact:  
Kindergarden School USA - Escuela Kinder LA - Roughly from 3 to 6 years old in a kids’ age for each grade that is, 3 years.  
Elementary School - Escuela Primaria - Roghly from 6 to 12 years old, 6 years.  
Junior High School - Escuela Secundaria - Roughly 12 to 15 years old, another 3 years.  
High School - Escuela Preparatoria - 15 to 18 years old, yet another 3 years, but in 6 Semesters.  
and finally  
College School - Escuela Universidad - 18 to 23 years old, 5 years but in 9 Semesters.

I figured they’d be 17/18, as that’s the age most teen dramas focus on; either first or last year, when there’s more pressure all around.

Since EqG is based off of American high schools, you usually are a senior in high school at age 17 or 18.

High School, actually there are no preps here. You go straight to the University once you finish High School.

What’s secundaria in El Salvador? Back in Spain that only covers up to age 15, and I get the impression EG is closer to 18.
