Description

“My God, what have we done?”
*Bullied a lot of people then became a she-demon
*Ended up making a former classmate become a she-demon that nearly caused the apocalypse
*Said former classmate opened a lot of wormholes in a weird thirst for magic knowledge
*Became too desperate to save a summer camp her family left her and her brother, also became a she-demon
*Ended up sucking 6 girls into an enchanted mirror and also became a she-demon after sucking up 1 more
*Was trying to erase 6 girls’ memories only for one to take the bullet, nearly drained all her memories of her friends due to feeling forgotten for too long (In retrospect, jealousy ends up clouding our judgement. Some of you even remember how popular Sunset Shimmer was.)
*Was too focused on 3M+ followers and never got actual friends
*Were overtaken by too much pressure to the point that they forgot to even have fun, like 2 fans could’ve wanted for them

Oh, it could’ve been so much more. I even felt that it’s one of the better EqG specials and had great potential. I liked portions of it. The scenes of Equestria were good and I did like the Celestia and Sunset reunion. Though, I do wish Celestia was more involved and offered more help to her former student. The development between Sunset and Trixie is handled nicely too. There are genuine good points.
It just suffered from a villain though who’s weak all around and had a poorly handed redemption. If Sunset had personally done something wrong to Wallflower in the past, I could get behind her reasoning. If they wanted to do a plot of a student who didn’t think Sunset changed and wanted revenge, this should’ve been the direct sequel to the first or even second movie then. I wanted to like this special, but it fell apart again like a lot of other EqG specials in the past.
I will say this much. Still better than Rollercoaster of Friendship.

I get what you’re trying to say, but this raises a problem. WHY is Sunset being blamed for something SHE didn’t have involvement in? The way Wallflower talks and acts is that she’s a massive introvert (I’m mostly an introvert myself) and that she somehow thinks somehow this one person is responsible for not getting attention. Sunset wasn’t the reason she wasn’t getting attention or looked at. The special even tries to imply somehow Sunset is the one in the wrong while Wallflower is somehow right in doing this. Why is she getting a pass for doing something terrible willingly but somehow Sunset is the one who need to be “taught a lesson” as Wallflower put it?

Actually, Wallflower was acting out of jealousy. Sunset was able to retain her popularity despite all the terrible things she had done before. Meanwhile, Wallflower had probably been a good person her entire life, yet was completely overlooked. In fact, Sunset “doing nothing to her” was the point. She didn’t acknowledge her, making her feel invisible.
I think she was trying to tear down Sunset to make herself feel better. But she didn’t feel better, and Sunset was still able to get people to like her again, making Wallflower feel like the whole thing was completely pointless.
She didn’t reformed out of fear. She reformed because people apologized for ignoring her and made an effort to be friends with her.

Out of all the villains, Wallflower was the one that was the most selfish for what she did. She decided to blame others for her own problems and attack someone the whole school knew had changed her ways; despite Sunset having never done anything to her.
I don’t believe she reformed out of remorse. She reformed out of fear when she saw the others powered up and about to blast her.
