Same with EG doll critique - I’d wait until real dolls are released. Should I remind everyone how Trailer #2 silenced 90% of the critics? Criticizing dolls of unknown origin that might look completely different from final design is just sad.

@Beau Skunky Amusingly the critique can go the other way. Those were made for specific purpose, a literal fashion show (whose models DO look that way) while there’s no real justification for Equestria Girls past ‘shameful ripoff cash in.’ It’s quite likely the designer requested they be ‘trimmed down’ to better represent the avenue.  
(The real complaint ought to be, why didn’t they use Clarabelle, who’s that skinny?)

In regards to the “Merida redesign” backlash, I saw it, and honestly, I don’t think it looks that much different from her look in the movie, except for a few more details on the dress, and a slightly more “narrow” waist, it doesn’t look any different to me. She still has the chubby tomboy-ish face, and such. I honestly think people overreacted to that, including Faust, I hate to say it.
 
It didn’t look as bad as those anorexic Minnie & Daisy redesigns for that one commercial that sparked similar backlash a year back. (Now THOSE were really messed-up looking, if you ask me. They make Jack Skellington & Equestria Girls look obese.)

Even you have to admit that the Cyrstal Empire was pretty badly implemented. It had less personality than Ponyville, and the only memorable character it introduced was not even a Crystal Pony (Chickadee). After it was introduced, it had no actual purpose or function, and that is bad world building. Even the Crystal Heart, which supposedly spreads love across Equestria, is forgotten about as quickly as it is introduced.

Faust picked them when she was running the show. That does not necessarily mean they were able to maintain the quality standard or vision she set while she was in charge. Meghan McCarthy is more comfortable with high school shows than she is with fantasy and world building, and you can see that by the mediocre attempts at world building in Season 3 and her unabashed enthusiasm for turning MLP into a high school drama.

I’m just pointing out the practicalities of it (i.e. it’s hasbro’s property, ergo they can do what they please with it).
 
Remember too that I hate the ending to ME3, and want Bioware to change it…but I still realise that ME is their to do what they please with it.

Faust created FIM. FIM will always be hers in the eyes of her fans. EQG is Hasbro’s bastardization of Faust’s show. Technically it’s Hasbro’s, but we have plenty of reason not to like it.

People are saying that the show has turned against Faust’s vision. News Flash! It already did that when the they went into production proper.
 
Like it or not, MLP is Hasbro’s baby, not Faust’s. If we were talking about a company screwing over Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls, then that would be going against the creator’s vision. Since the creator of MLP is Hasbro (in that they own and control the IP), their vision is unfortunately whatever they want to make it.

Meh. Why is anyone surprised? Hasbro always made terrible toys. It’s not that the ‘message’ of the girls toys are bad. Just that their molds are just dull and just reek of wanting to be like Barbie.
 
I’d be fine with the figures if they at least looked more cartoon loyal.

I for one am glad to at least know she’s got our backs, though. Just getting an occasional reminder that she hasn’t forgotten about the show or fandom she created is very comforting given all that we have gone through since she left.
 
I am sure it is also a comfort and source of confidence for her knowing that she has a highly loyal fanbase that will be there for the next project she releases.
