That’s not the problem. The problem is that they’re comparing a spell that is just too powerful to be useful to spells that only work under certain circumstances.

None of the theories can be truly correct, because the writers wrote the episode without taking onto account that the spell needed to actually do something other than create Twilicorn. Their lack of thought put onto their own work means no matter how hard we try to fill in the gaps, it still won’t make sense.

Yeah, The change destiny spell was something that comes under the exact definition of ‘Too Awesome To Use’. It literally rips apart the fabric of spacetime in order to give you exactly what you want, no matter how undeserving you are. Comparing that to spells that are possibly only situational in usefulness is a bad move.

Just the fact that it IS a well-written girls show instead of just of a Gen 3.5 xlonw, and that it became as popular as it is makes FiM groundbreaking.

The moustache spell was always supposed to be a moustache spell.  
The time travel spell was was always supposed to be a time travel spell.  
And the “change-destiny”-spell was always supposed to be… I have no idea.  
And neither do the writers. Many people have theories, but none are actually sound.

Shhh, the answer to everything that doesn’t make sense in the show is that it’s a little girl’s show… Never mind that the reason it was good in the first place is because it wasn’t written like one until that episode came along.

And what’s more, she altered everyone else’s minds so that shew wouldn’t get punished for nearly fucking everything up. She was most likely just going to go down in history as the one who finished Starswirl’s final masterpiece, something that would have been possibly even more honorable: They can’t erect monuments to your legacy if you’re dead.

Look people the spell was a macguffin, like the suitcase in resovuar dogs. They came up with what happen when the spell misfired but they didn’t realy need to say what the spell dose when it works, mostly because it will bever be mentioned again.  
If they will need it again then they will flush it out.

Children card games, err i mean children cartoons are serious business. But seriously, show was designed to be enjoyable by everyone. Most people watching it are grown man. And don’t forget that many other “children” cartoons often have good plots and all full of references that only adult people can get. They writers try to create something great, not create some primitive crap only less intelligent kids can enjoy. Don’t be surprised that people expect quality from cartoons.

This again? Drama will be the death of this fandom.

You know what this means, right? It was never Twilight’s destiny to be an Alicorn. She fucked up so bad, that she became an even more blatant Godmode Sue.

well, starting and ending a half length season with two parters could’ve had similarly bad results for the season as a whole, imagine if they’d ’ve mashed up Games Pwnees Play and Just For Sidekixxs instead

Is it just me, or do the writers seem more interested in Equestria Girls than FiM? Maybe writing fantasy just isn’t in their comfort zone.

I liked the songs too, but that doesnt change fact that godawfull illogical plot offended my intelligence. Nothing can save episode which plot makes no sense. Im also angry that they wasted twilight ascension on such a boring episode.
