I know of use of word gay as for homosexual person, was surprised to find it is usually used for men. Would guess it is caused by colloquial use of it in my country in unisex manner. My cross languages linguistic abilities surely are stellar.
Made remark with silly intention, didn’t mean anything bad by it.

While I did mean it in joking manner I am honestly not sure if those definitions are exclusive to each other or one is subset of other one, as in bi and gay. One can look it at either way, just I don’t know what is taken as convention. Would guess it depends on person, culture and language.
Also I though that lesbian is subset of gay, as in gay woman. But again it might be language and cultural things, those things mess up definitions.
