The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@vonPeterhof
I think common phrase that can be replaced with ご苦労様 would be “How was your day?” That’s a lot more casual than “good work mr” talk I guess.
Kind of doesn’t make sense to ask the question and not bothering to wait for the answer but yeh, how many people actually expect a full report of the day.

Dangit, why do you have to go and steal my thunder using your native speaker powers?!

Just kidding, thanks for your input! I wasn’t sure what なんてね could mean in this case, thanks for clearing that up. As for ご苦労様, yeah I don’t think there’s a directly equivalent customary phrase in English. I chose to make it less literal and used a casual phrase that one would be more likely to use in English in this situation, but that probably disrupted the mood that the original phrasing sets.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

“welcome home, thanks for hard work today(there has to be better way to say that as a wife to husband, thing). Wanna take a bath? Want a meal? or some training with me? Just kidding, you’d want the meal first. I’ll get something good cooked for ya”
somewhere along the line, but obviously in smoother English.

Earning a living, in a job that has nothing to do with either ponies or Japanese. Thanks for the ponified handle though. Anyway:

“Welcome back! Another hard day at work? Would you like a bath? Or something to eat? Or maybe some training with me? Okay then, food comes first. I’ll make a delicious dinner for you!”

She’s welcoming you home, and asking if you want a bath or dinner, but I’m not confident enough in my Japanese to attempt a real translation.
