Some HS did work though (I mentioned Azumanga, Haruhi, Lucky Star, and Fruits Basket) the thing is characters, as long as they dont fit the typical HS steriotypes (Jock, Prep, etc etc) it’s good (Or at the very least parody said steriotypes)

because, you might hate handi-cam movies, and I hate the premise of a highschool drama because there is only so much that can be done with it, and it’s never done right. you remember what happened with talking animal movies? how once one became a big hit there were THOUSANDS of crappy ones? we just FINALLY got rid of most of the highschool dramas and opened the way for new themes and ideas, and they’re trying to bring one back. also, it’s looking like twi and maybe spike are the only ones actually coming from the show, which could be done correctly, but I would actually like all of them to go to the human world jsut so we’d actually have different characters’ perspectives on the matter.
 
furthermore, they make the main cast children when they’re obviously adults in FiM, and the only new things twi might learn in highschool would be the history of another world, and the technology behind the scientific advancements they have above the ponies. she knows some chemistry, along with a plethora of everything else, but unless they decide to make the whole “equestria’s written language is different from english” thing canon they’re not gonna have anything new she can learn in english class either. there is no point to her being in highschool when they could just have her alone for a few minutes, walk into a restaurant, and run into the human versions of her friends all hanging out. it’s degrading to reduce a character’s age just for the purpose of sending them back to school.

This may very well be true, but it’s something I personally hesitate to bring up to people, as they often take it the wrong way. Plus, as much as people love this show, many don’t really take cartoons seriously in that way, or consider that yes, they can and do help change society. Even people in animation don’t always think about that has much as they could.
 
Lauren Faust seems to, and all I know is, from what she’s been tweeting, though I don’t want to put words in her mouth, I’d be willing to bet a lot that she’s not all that happy about this whole thing.
 
For some reason I didn’t really think it would written by anyone who writes on Pony, but the fact that it is makes things harder, because it might actually be well written AND well produced. If it was bad, it would be simpler, because most of the fandom would be united by that. I don’t think that’s the issue here though. Doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad, I just don’t think it’s a great thing to encourage more of. I just feel bad for the crew. If we support it, they may have to make more stuff like this, if we don’t support it, they wasted their time and efforts on it. Well, at least they get to go back to Pony, it’s not like they’ll lose their jobs if we don’t support it!

like I’ve kinda hinted at my beef with EqG is bigger than just dhx, or even hasbro for that matter. I want this schoolgirl drama thing to die out, and the only way to do that would be to convince people to stop supporting it with their money. if eqg is actually good… it will just spawn a resurgence in shitty schoolyard dramas.

because sight and hearing are the only two senses I have to experience a cartoon you twit! the promotional material looks boring, the premise sounds horrible, and the entire thing feels like a bad corporate mandate. insulting my ability to look at dry shit from a distance and know with 99% certainty that it is shit is foolish. I gave the writers a less than 99% chance of making it work, but if it were any other team I wouldn’t have been that generous, don’t you get that? high school based stories (not stories where the characters are highschool age, stories based IN a highschool) are ALWAYS shit. this is experience talking bro; ya can’t argue with history.

your believing that just because you like something makes it gold is crap. the only one of those that I didn’t take a couple looks at an issue or two of and immediately say it was schlock of the highest caliber is fruits basket, and that’s because I haven’t taken a look at that one at all.
 
great writers CAN make any premise work when allowed to work outside the box. the issue with EqG is that it’s NOT anything original from what I’ve seen, it’s the product of something I’ve seen destroy far more popular shows than FiM, and the character designs are horrible! yes, I do have problems with girls in highschool looking like dangerously mutated and anorexic ten year olds, got a problem with that?

Trixie’s return should have been a natural occurrence anyway. If it was never planned, it would just be another step towards showing how bad they are at this ‘children’s programming’ thing. The only oneshots in most kids shows are oneshots because they die like Arbatus in Aladdin. It’s kind of worrying that they HAVEN’T yet brought back Gilda, actually. This may signify a change in conceptual direction.

Yes, because artists, writers, and animators give their all for the almighty dollar, even when the project in question runs counter to every principle and shred of integrity they have. Stop looking at amateur scumbags on DA and speak to some real artists and writers. Part of the reason so many buggy as hell games come out lately are the programmers are pushed to make ‘games that sell’ over ‘games that are entertaining’ or ‘games that are good’ or even ‘games that have some smidgeon of interactivity.’ This is especially true of the MMO world, where 90% of them make their money on cash shop aesthetic clothing/pets, nothing that affects gameplay or stats or the interface in general. Your argument presupposes that morale is completely unimportant and DHX are soulless automatons that punch out the same quality shit endlessly no matter what the subject matter or plotline really is. If this were the case every episode of season 1 would be equal in quality, and every episode of 2 and 3 would be of equal quality after the ‘main programmer’ left. It’s this kind of thinking by executives that causes the self-destruction of animation and coding studios regularly, and might even lead to a full-scale writer revolt or industry-wide strike.

Azumanga is an overrated piece of shit just like all the rest of the High School dramas written before and since, and when it comes to it is only really good for the porn.
 
As for abandoning Love and Tolerance… well, it’s a necessary evil. Love and Tolerance has its place, but not when it threatens the very thing that brings us that. Not when suckups and idiots like you threaten to further degrade the quality even further with your sycophantry. Not when we see everything we’ve come to love about the show spat on, shat on, and thrown under the bus to welcome aboard corporate buffoonary as a marketing vehicle to sell toys to shitty little girls.
