While I do believe that PC gaming does have nothing to fear ever since Discs became obsolete thanks to Steam, HOWEVER, this does not mean that the Wii U does not have any merits for survival. For example, Nintendo recently brought the Miiverse to the 3DS. Connecting the popular 3DS and the Wii U together at last and thus connecting gamers in a grander scale. Taking into account that these machines have to work under strict limitations, this should be considered quite a feet for the gaming company.
 
While Nintendo did not get the best head start this generation, I do see that it can only improve over time. With the release of high quality games, a strong connection with the fanbase via their cooperation with social media sites, and the expansion of their system’s software Nintendo does not look like it will be going down without a fight.

I’m sick to death of re-hashed brain dead Shoot ’em Ups. Yes there are notable exceptions to the rule these generally tend to revolve ‘round VALVe Games though.
 
For the more pedestrian day to day crap I prefer NISA (Nipon Ichi Software America), titles, like Hyper Dimensional Neptunia. Which I’m still currently plying though.

To be fair though we’ve lost a shitload in the modern era because that’s all that hollywood itself sells, and AAA game devs came right out and said after the success of Medal of Honor and Tomb Raider and the like “Dang, wow, we really should be more like Hollywood!” Even the skimpy ones like Valis and Viconia and Sabra had some real depth back in the day. One generation gave us Rynn, Jessica (DQ8, though there’s a ton of other good Jessicas too like the priestess from Lunar), Jade, Faith, very next, we get Smomus, Rachel McTitbags, Elizabeth, all these DoA volleyball games, and a bunch of ‘fake badass babes’ who’re just Duke with boobs. PC’s fared far better as usual, but it’s still there a bit. I don’t see fighting and drawing attention as the way to go though, you just have to let them die on their own while new methods come about, like the RIAA. Ya draw attention, and the game just sells out. Happened all the way back on Sega CD with night trap, will still happen now.

Good for you. Most didn’t though. It may not have been as massive a betrayal as Other M, nor as overt, but most of the old guard felt it a betrayal all the same.
