Let’s just say people who dislike Discord have to respect people who like him and be careful with what they say.
Oh, is that all? Absolutely not.
What you are asking for is akin to a safe space.
People can have opinions, disagreements and arguments with you on Discord as long as they follow Rule 0 and Rule 6 guidelines. As long as they do that, they don’t have to careful about what they say around you at all, they can give their opinions on Discord however they want. We are not censoring honest opinions.
Again, while keeping within all site guidelines of course.

One, as I already mentioned twice, I’m not a Discord hater. I personally am neutral on him, but I’m saying people who dislike Discord have fair reasons of keeping up his large list of crimes.
Two, I’m not blaming Discord for his actions or beliefs in this comic, even if I was a Discord hater. I pity him for a great many reasons in this comic. But him being remembered only for being a hero is kind of revisionist to say the least.
Three, I never denied Discord being popular. Popularity isn’t the issue being discussed.
Four, you have a Discord profile icon. I do not hate Discord. You have no beef with me.

Its insane to blame discord for being broken when he sees the one he cares most about crying and not knowing the situation that she could be in. He out himself in harms way to provide a distraction so they could get through. In fact many warmed up to discord after where and back again what made him base breaking again for the fandom were his actions afterwards.

First off, never is a strong word. A person can appreciate them more in the future if their canon self’s good deeds outweigh they’re bad. Take Trixie for example. Her past transgressions are…checkered to say the least considering she wasn’t really responsible for the Ursa and the Alicorn Amulet messed with her mind, but she still made a lot of bad decisions and bad attitude. But when Trixie sacrificed herself for her friend Starlight in the changeling caves (honestly the only good scene for me in that finale) in a situation that had a high chance of getting her killed, that easily pushed Trixie into full protagonist for many.
It was definitely a different situation then Discord not walking forward just because a lot of drones turned into Fluttershy.
Discord’s naughty list is….larger. And his S4 betrayal being wiped away just by Discord giving Celestia some roses is…sketchy at best.

No, they do not. That is 120% incorrect.
As long as Rule 0 and Rule 6 are not broken, any user can voice their opinion on a character that is viewed negatively in their opinion. You liking a character doesn’t instantly mean that others have to cater to you and not say something contradictory.
We can be courteous in our disagreements, but this is NOT a safe space where nothing negative can be said. That goes both ways for me as well. There are characters that I like that others do not, but I would never denounce them for having a different opinion in the first place. I might disagree, I might argue otherwise, but they are welcome to give their opinion.

So what?
While treating any opinion as an indisputable fact is a slippery slope, there are going to be people angry enough at a character’s actions that say such things. That’s not going to change, and its perfectly fair a few people will react like that considering all Discord’s done. (Keep in mind, I’m talking about their stance, not mine. My opinion on Discord is mixed, I’m aware of the good he’s done and the bad, and I don’t have a specific opinion on him.)

I thought I inferred that already but I’ll got into more detail.
Disliking a character that, in one’s opinion, never redeemed themselves, has no harm. One doesn’t need to be overzealous in hating Discord, and it can often have no negative impact hating a character.
No gain, no loss. Just objectively looking at a fictional character from a show that never redeemed themself to be considered a moral character.
If were talking about never forgiving or disliking any character that is still being used, depending on how vocal and widespread the opinion is, that can (sometimes) cause the writers to adjust their tactics depending on the public response. In very corporate run series, that often doesn’t happen, but one example of it actually working is the original bad design Sonic.
Complaints are going to happen, and every so often, you’ll find a company that appreciates feedback and fanservice. Disliking a character has no negative consequences, and ‘not currently’ forgiving Discord (keep in mind I didn’t say never) and the feedback en masse can have positive effects depending on the creator. Low chances of course, but nothing is lost, while something is potentially gained or not.. other positive is simply being honest with your feelings.

You DO realize a character can stay in the catagory of “bad overall” to a person WITHOUT the person having to be zealous about it over time OR change their mind about it overtime.
A very, very, very odd concept some people on Derpibooru believe in is that people who remain on Derpibooru HAVE to change their opinion about certain bad ideas just because it was done long ago.
Its completely illogical. We can acknowledge missteps and bad writing years after it happened. What was done good and was done bad.
As for me, my opinion on Discord is, mixed. My feelings for his character are currently not strong one way or another. But @angryprogrockbrony
is fully warranted to keep Discord’s large, large list of offenses in perspective.
