Even though I agree with this, I only uploaded it. I didn’t make it. Don’t shoot the messenger.
@bboifatz
You would think the implied tentacular pony rope and volcano sacrifice would attract a few at least! (then there’s weirdos like the spanish bronies who ignore it purely because of the artwork and AAAH REAL HOERS SCARY, silly RIGgo and Nitemare.)
@Splinter17 Haha, it’s so bad that they just immediately presume that all new entrants on MLP Arena are from FiM and then when they make their first post they rush in expecting to have ta choke a mare for ‘only seeing the inferior show’
Meh, most bronies will dismiss any pre-Gen 4 incarnation of MLP. From what I heard, it’s very irritating to fans of old-school MLP and saying “lel g1 is teh suck Xd, g4 is fur reel menz!!1!” a good way to start a flame war.
Not completely forgotten, but it’s got nowhere near the fandom of GI Joe, TF, or FIM. Most bronies probably haven’t even watched one episode of G1.
Original MLP is forgotten? man, you don’t even KNOW.
It’s amazing, really– FIM had a meteoric rose to the point where it’s fans held it with the same esteem of the original GI Joe and Transformers, while the original MLP is largely forgotten. And only 3 years after its introduction, we are already panicking about Hasbro ruining it and drawing battle lines for when we can officially say it got “ruined forever.” It’s almost like we’re compressing 30 years worth of fandom evolution into 3 years to make up for lost time.
Still doesn’t change the fact that Hasbro neutered Fighting is Magic. I wanted to play as Pinkie and beat up Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, not as some OC. It might still be a fun game, but it will never be like the original.
That’s kind of a weak argument. If it wasn’t for Hasbro, Gen 3.5 would not have existed, and the Transformers Trilogy would have had a competent director and cast.
Technically that project is still being made, they just have to use original characters now instead of the FiM pony ones.
I get kinda tired of hearing how “evil” Hasbro is. If it wasn’t for them there’d be no MLP:FiM in the first place.
It’s amazing– I think you may have actually found one of those rare cross sections where the religious right and the atheist left would find something equally offensive!
Or Ultra-Athiest folk who get offended by words like “God,” “Gods,” and such. (Remember when Athiests got offended by the “Feeling Pinkie Keen” episode?)
@Mugen Kagemaru
It’s not like the fandom just pulled the “alicorn = gods” thing out it’s ass like it does with background pony characterization. Besides, as far as I know only Faust said that they’re not gods, but as she’s not on the show, her word is invalid.
>Celestia’s name is used in oaths(with Celestia as my witness)
>most powerful magic users in the setting other than Discord
>capable of living for more than a millennium without aging
Alicorns pretty much Greek or Norse-tier gods in all but name. I think the writers are just afraid that if they say “yeah, Celestia’s a goddess,” they’ll offend ultra-religious soccer moms who would flood Hasbro’s offices with angry letters.
It seems unjustified because you’re not against it. I still don’t like the idea at all and feel perfectly justified in not liking it, so it really comes down to a game of “my opinion is bigger than your opinion” until we actually see if it harms or helps the show next season.
“[Alicorn = god] just something the fanon came up with.”
Precisely. And even if it was canon, the outrage over Twilicorn would still be unjustified.
Nah, I think they’re going the Buddha/moral superior route. Which I also don’t entirely support.
I think they confirmed that “alicorn” doesn’t automatically mean “god.” Even Faust said she doesn’t consider the princess sisters “gods.” That’s just something the fanon came up with.
The fact that Twilight has ascended to what has been implied to be Equestria’s equivalent to godhood.
The outrage is completely unjustified IMO.
Quite a few of the fanatical anti-Twilicorn/Equestria Girls fans act the same way if you ask me. (In fact, I see more of them then I do “pro-Twilicorn fanbrats” personally.) They act like Hasbro owes them something, and no little kids like the series, and only “bronies” do, and Hasbro & DHX should cater to their demands of removing Twilight’s wings. One crazy guy told me he’s going to gather a bunch of anti-alicorn people to march to Hasbro HQ, and protest until they give in to their demands. (Yeah, right.)
Okay, this time I can’t blame the phone…
Star Wars fans who love and hate the prequels still have to get along and share the same forums. Over the years they have learned how to discuss the things about the franchise they find mutually enjoyable without rattling sabres, and there was never a mass exodus where half the fandom up because the other half wouldn’t submit to whatever the popular opinion was at the time.
