They were going to make her a “city pony”, her name akin to “The Big Apple”. It was suggested that there was no reason to keep her country.
I think in a compromise, (this is based on nothing but my own speculation) AJ’s concept evolved into Sprout and possibly Misty.
I heard and saw a lot of the old G5 concepts, but I did NOT know about this omg.
…Now I’m imagining an AU where they followed up on this and had the more obvious successor Hitch take Misty’s role in the story and the role of the Antagonist Turned Friend Applejack—

And for Celestia’s sake, we’ve now had an official member of the G5 team not only discuss headcanons [about Jazz’s ears] and directly acknowledged Derpibooru. We also know another popular fan artist managed to get in the G5 production team.
This means people like us, using the site, seeing our comments, even interacting with us as members of Derpibooru could be someone working on the show.
That absolutely means they could be on 4Chan in their free time.
That’s sound kinda scary tbh.

We’ve had, no joke, actual military men leak actual classified tank specs on War Thunder forums just to wank about how tanks in those games weren’t “accurate”.
You’d be surprised how dedicated people are to proving who’s got the biggest e-peen in their internet nerd circles.

Not that I liked Applejack but I’m glad they didn’t villanize her just because she’s boring.
It was worse than that.

I think in a compromise, (this is based on nothing but my own speculation) AJ’s concept evolved into Sprout and possibly Misty. The idea of Twilight as an Earth Pony stayed and clearly defined Sunny. I was shocked they actually announced the changes, I expected them to be too far in production.

Oddly, and funny, it seemed like I had lots of things on my wishlists appear in future G4 episodes after I posted them somewhere. And I suggested splitting G5 into two shows, a younger hyperactive one, and a more developed, other show. Also a spin-off, tested in Pony Life and Pinkie’s brief 3D TV show.

You’re only saying this because the 2017 leaks are proven true now and not before. You wouldn’t have called them morons the moment the leaks were discovered.
Oh, I called them morons back then. I said the exact same thing I’m saying now. I might be able to dig up some of the comments I left on Derpibooru even. I made announcements about it on Facebook.
Specifically, I’m criticizing the notion of treating all things as 100% true or 100% false. And back then, I said the possibility vs probability indicated a lean towards “probably true”, but that doesn’t mean “confirmed”. There’s no point in a company confirming details in early development or planning stages, much less proposals.
The leaks we got from 2017 included private company emails that public eyes were definitely not supposed to see. Not only was I right about those leaks, I was 100% right that they were just planned ideas that could be changed.

Imalou, the second artist you were referring to only worked on the movie and is no longer associated with Hasbro.
Imalou was on concept design team; she designed Sunny and Izzy. Concept artists work at the highest levels in development: everyone else works to try and incorporate what the concept artist create in conjunction with the writers.

This happens in Warhammer 40k with Games Workshop all the time, and has happened for years. I’m actually surprised doesn’t happen more often in Ponydom. The 2017 leaks definitely came from someone who got a hold of stuff pretty high up. I’m not sure why they do, but it happens, and MLP isn’t the only place.
But you also completely missed the point of my comment in regards to this part of the topic…
Fans like you and me work in the production team, and possibly in big daddy Hasbro itself. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 2017 leaks were leaked to instigate proof just how bad an idea it originally was. Some idiot in marketing or development maybe assumed the direction they were going would be fine, but the backlash proved otherwise.
