In the second installation of IDW’s My Little Pony: Classics Reimagined line, L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz gets pony-fied! Travel through all of Odd with Applejack as Dorothy, Pinkie Pie as Scarecrow, Rarity as Tin Woodsmare, and Fluttershy as Cowardly Lion.
In issue #1, Dorothy lives an ordinary life at her farm in Ponyville, Kansas, with her Uncle Henrie and Granny Em. But a tornado whisks her away to a magical land of Breezies, silver horseshoes, and good and evil princesses. It almost makes her want to sing… (But she won’t. Those songs aren’t in the public do-mane.)

Bear in mind, the artist is following the directions of the producer(s) (who controls the project and is everybody’s boss) and the writer who came up with the script and concepts for the story, which is approved by the producer.
The main artist just interprets what the producer and writer wants, and might be the art director overseeing the project. But the producer will grab whichever artist on staff they think is best for that particular story.
Then a different artist traces the main artist’s work for the outline, another artist organizes the layout and panels, and usually another artist colors everything; but each artist is trying to accentuate the main artist’s intentions.

The artist has very little, if any, control over the story or it’s concepts. They’re paid to draw someone else’s ideas, unless they themselves are producers or at the top of the food chain.

Does it need a pun? Wizards already exist in Equestria, more or less, though I can accept ‘unicorn’ as a substitute; but ‘odd’? It sounds awful and isn’t even a pun. “The Unicorn of Oz” would have been fine. The Crystal Empire would have been a perfect stand-in for the Emerald City, though that muddies the recognition even further. The point is, there’s a reason all the Oz spin-offs have Oz in the title. Without the art as context, would anyone even know what the title was inferring?
