Was there any intentional similarities? I remember I had often got Valkyrie-Girl and Silfoe confused back in the day…
I too shear this idea, but hers how it goes in my head-cannon at just a thought
Celesta and Luna’s parents where gods that that shrugged of their god-hood to join Equestrea, they where then killed by a villain who was a fallen god that then was banished to Tartarus after Luna was born, out of respect, the unicorn royal family took them in and during the Discord incident the royal family stepped down as the main rulers and gave it to Celestia and Luna after his defeat, at this pin one faction left and mingled with pegusy and later became the rulers of the crystal empire, time went by and at some point the unicorn royal family split again with one faction been of Blueblood and the other Sombra, Sombra went evil and took the empire and Cadence who was a filly found a way into the future, I’ll leave the rest up to you
“Now Blueblood is the only one with a missing link to explain where he fits into everything.”
I always liked to headcanon that Celestia and Luna were not born into royalty the same way Cadance and Twilight weren’t. But when they took over from Queen Platinum(or whoever it would be at the time), the queen still kept their lineage in royalty, and that’s where Blueblood comes from(and possibly why Celestia and Luna don’t take the title of queen).
It’s all JJ’s fault. Blame him.
But it’s not that big of a deal anyway, because rigidly clinging to canon in any sort of medium eventually just leads to angry nitpicking. It’s more fun to just go with the flow than getting all riled up because one made up story doesn’t perfectly line up with another made up story.
“The Writers and Staff have said that the information in the books are canon.”

@SilFoe
The Writers and Staff have said that the information in the books are canon. However the Trixie and Gilda stories are negligible as this was written prior to Magic Duel being aired.
Yeah, it isn’t canon, but despite the terribad “villains,” its a plausible enough origin for Cadance. The show can come along later and destroy the book and I’d be totally ok with that, but until then, this is as close as we’ve gotten to an explanation for Cadence.
And this way, people can keep their own headcanons without a whole lot of butt hurt!
The antagonists are the dead giveaway that there is no real collaboration between this author and the actual writing staff.
Gilda somehow living in/near Ponyville was totally shoehorned and makes no sense at all. She stormed the hell out of Ponyville once she felt betrayed by Dash. She has zero reason to stick around the place, especially since her big blow up at the party would have ponies being suspicious of her. That she would stick around just to be an ass to ponies she doesn’t care about is absurd.
Then you’ve got Trixie, in a story that is supposedly post season 3, acting like a vindictive little twit and completely ignoring her character development from Magic Duel. That she’d grow enough to apologize for acting like a total ass only to somehow hook up with Gilda and immediately turn back into an arrogant, spiteful bitch who reacts to Twilight and her friends as if Magic Duel never even happened.
The book was cute for a mid-level reader story, but the way that Gilda and Trixie are utilized completely ignores and contradicts the show’s canon.
You can’t just selectively ignore parts of the work when calling a story canon. Either it’s all canon or it all isn’t. If you want to headcanon bits and pieces selectively, then by all means, go for it. But when the story actively contradicts the show and we have no official statement that the books are accepted as canon, then I’m going to call it not canon.
So if you have some evidence to prove the book is canon, by all means, let’s see it. Otherwise, lacking any official statement of the book being canon, it simply isn’t a canonical work.
Well you can always do a Celestia and Luna were normal pre discord
Celestia being a pegasus (cutie mark means making sunny days)
Luna an unicorn (spells to give you a good night sleep)
both parents are Earth Ponies (like the cakes)
Cadance could be any three since she talent is reminding ponies about their love
Dammit Klonoa, do you have to bring up your opinion on the finale everywhere!?
EVERYTHING written by the end of season 3 is flimsy.
As I recall, there is some side-canon about Cadence being a regular Pegasus who saved some village or another, and ascended to Princesshood.
Non canon?
Yeah, okay. How about you qualify that statement with some evidence. Because until the series itself establishes conflicting rules and origins, this is the story I’m sticking with, minus the bullshit filler involving Trixie and Gilda, which I’m pretty sure was shoehorned in during later drafts to pad out the length.
But I like it frankly. It’s a good explanation for where Cadance came from and partly dissolves the nebulous royal lineage we’ve been confused by. Now Blueblood is the only one with a missing link to explain where he fits into everything.
Plus, Cadance having an origin as a pegasus keeps it from looking like unicorns have more inherent clout than others, though an outright earth pony might have worked even better.
