Description

Did an edit of a picture by Sirzi, of Smolder and Spike swimming: I removed Smolder’s swimsuit, because I prefer my characters unclothed, and let’s face it, Smolder’s not gonna wear clothing like that. I didn’t bother with Spike’s, as that would be harder, and there are details I’m not entirely happy with on Smolder, but I’m happy enough to put it out and move on.
I will say, the one thing I don’t like about this image is that they’re anatomically incorrect: MLP dragons have snakelike bodies with the legs kinda just sticking out, and it bugs me when artists draw them with humanoid hips. I’ve got to say, I DO appreciate the details under the water: I was a little ways into editing before I even noticed them, because they’re subtle, but substantial.

Personally, I feel the ‘snake-like-body’ that dragons have in mlp as you say is nothing more than an artist’s quark/style drawing and in a more detailed version of the show they would in fact be drawn more “human’ looking so to speak. They likely couldn’t draw them with more human-like hips and stuff because it would have made them appear too familiar while being technically nude -too easily sexualized in the show- and so had to ensure they ‘cartooned’ it up in the designs.

Personally I prefer the original >>2652941 because (to me) it’s cuter and makes more sense for Smolder to wear a swimsuit if Spike is also wearing shorts. But to each their own.
