Personally, I think FiM should’ve went this route. It probably would’ve pissed less people off. Unfortunately they may take it that little girls aren’t smart enough to understand why Twilight keeps transforming back and forth.

The new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game just came out, Pokemon X and Y are coming out out later this year, Every time a new Pokemon is announced it’s a big deal online, either for love of it (Fennekin) or hate of it (the new Mewtwo form.) The fact that this page in even here invalidates your argument.
Like I said, in the anime however, we’ll see him like this until the end of the movie, he’ll fly off in his fancy new form and we’ll never see Mewtwo again, because continuity is a dirty word unless it has something to do with Charizard.
