Actually, in my fanon that would have been standard operating procedure in G4*. They manually operate nature, leather is useful, Griffin’s love the taste of Equines(and thus probably have immune systems that can handle it), and, in my fanon, the diarch’s are angels who, while they can’t DIRECTLY testify to the nature of God and the afterlife** they can drop enough hints that the society deeply internalized “When the soul is gone, the body is only an empty shell.”
*Of course, that is AFTER law enforcement gets done with it, and a fair price is negotiated with the next-of-kin.
**Same reason there aren’t angels on every street corner preaching The Gospel in real life.
