The RZ-1 A-wing Interceptor is a fast, nimble fighter designed by the rebellion to rival the TIE Interceptor. It in fact dwarfs the TIE’s power by being faster, along with having a hyperdrive and light shielding. It is mass produced, but is more costly than the TIE models, one being around 175,000 credits. They are also lacking in the shields and armour area, but can be dealt with should one have enough skill with dodging maneuvers.
 
Rainbow Dash is a skilled pilot to the A-wing line. Some rumor that when she was but a filly, she accidentally got into one and flew it around flawlessly, calling the craft the Sonic Rainboom. She owns and flies the same craft, but the rumor has yet to be confirmed. She has shot down a total of 168 enemy fighters in her career and is friends with the princesses themselves.

Actually, the Imperial Assult Missle boat was faster. S.L.A.M. Overdrive system ensured that.
