Yay for Harsbo!
But most of all…
YAY FOR PONIES! :’D
Ok….That made me laugh. Well done, squire.
The Sonic ’06 of movies? You’re
NOW LOADING…
kidding, right? Whatever faults
NOW LOADING…
Equestria Girls may have had, it
NOW LOADING…
was still competently produced
NOW LOADING…
from a technical perspective.
NOW LOADING…
NOW LOADING…
Sonic ’06 is more like The Room
NOW LOADING…
or the works of Ed Wood.
EQG? Why? I thought the general consensus was that it sucked hairy bollocks. That it was pretty much the Sonic 06 of movies.
DWM was about getting rid of what they didn’t like which others did.
Just couldn’t stand the fact that something exists and wouldn’t shut up about it. Sounds awfully familiar…
Are you always this obnoxious and condescending towards people liking things that you don’t? I mean, this is only about a cartoon movie– I’d hate to see the long list of what makes your blood really boil. It can’t be healthy.
Well, I would say that you can’t really argue against his opinion that people are tasty…
I have one thing about this, ONE thing:
How in the world can anybody be wrong when it comes to his taste?
How can personal preferences be “wrong”?
It’s like asking somebody what is your favorite colour, and when he says red trying to convince him that he’s wrong because only yellow is the right answere.
It’s ridiculous!
What I see here is a picture from somebody who enjoyed EQG and looks forward to RR. Additionally to that some comments stating the same.
And then you rush in, thinking it’s your holy mission to convince everybody that EQD was shit and RR will without a doubt be just as bad.
And now tell me one thing:
Why do you care? Why can’t you just let us enjoy our movies?
No one here tried to convince you to like it. We all just said we like it, you dislike it, ok, c’est la vie. But you couldn’t accept that for some reason.
And that is childish.
And now you say we never brought up any reason why we like it. I ask you: why on earth should we? Are we trying to convince you to like it? I certainly don’t. I don’t need a reason to like something. I don’t need a number of well put together reasons and reviews to like something. I just like it. Period. And you have no rights attacking this opinion.
And now you either grow up or you will have every further comment on this conversation deleted by me, because you’re childish rambling went on long enough.
It’s cute that you think bronies are so important in this fandom, that if it wasn’t for our patronage either series would die a slow and penniless death. This may shock you, but MLP and Equestria Girls are popular with young females in the 4-16 age demographic. Bronies might have spread the series popularity through word of mouth, but it is and always shall be the target demographic through which it lives and breathes. We don’t come anywhere near outnumbering them.
Also, stop pointing at those reviews as proof of your point. Reviews are opinion just as much as your own is. People are allowed to disagree with them. I could link you just as many fair-to-positive reviews of the film.
No one here is trying to tell you to change your opinion of the film. We are however asking you to stop cramming it down our throats and insisting that we change ours.
Perhaps this really was a feminist movie ‘in line with the show’s values’ after all.
The difference is this:
One side (ours) gives reasons and arguements for their opinions. They BACK IT UP with substance. We don’t just yell “WE’RE RIGHT YOUR WRONG” We say “We’re right your wrong here’s why: (Reason) (reason) (reason) (reason) (reason) (reason). Now prove me wrong.”
The other side tries to worm their way out of a discussion by yelling “LAWL OPINUNS EVERYTHING IS AN OPINION” At the top of their lungs and covering their ears to declare victory by default, while making absolutely NO real attempt to defend the movie or counter criticisms whatsoever, trying desperately to deflect any real criticism by turning it into a discussion about subjectivity.
Because when it comes right down to it, they know they really cannot defend the movie, they know they don’t have a leg to stand on, they know they are in the wrong, and they know that they are afraid that actually hearing any actual reasons and sound arguments might change their “oh so precious” opinions and challenge their presupposed bias.
In other words, they hide behind “Stop liking what I like” macros and subjectivism because they are afraid of being wrong and finding out so. Because they are afraid to critically think. They are afraid to change their opinion in light of facts.
Opinions are not valuable by themselves unless they they have substance. Opinions that are stated on a whim without backing can be dismissed just the same, along with those that make them.
It’s amazing really. People who often criticise the DWM movement (and rightfully so) for unbased idiotic opinions commit the exact same error for something they like.
And that is where you are wrong.
I never, in not a single one of my comments said it was wrong to dislike it. All I said is I like it. Go, reread them, prove me wrong.
You on the other hand basically say “It’s shit and you are all wrong for thinking otherwise”.
And that’s a huge difference!
And this is you (and most of derpibooru as a whole) Any time critcisms of EQG are made:
What you basically just said is
“Because you people liked the first one we have to endure a second one now!”
The question is, why do you even care? You disliked the first one, ok, lesson learned, avoid the second one and you can die happily.
Meanwhile I will keep looking forward to it and nothing you can say and no review you post will ever change that.
I mean, could you please stop acting like your opinion is the only right opinion in the whole wide world and everyone with a different opinion is wrong? Do you even realize how childish that is?
You right now:
Because contrary to popular belief, opinions do not exist in a vacuum.
They do have actual consequences. The fact that we’re getting a sequel to EQG instead of it becoming the failure it ought to be and dying at the side of the road like it should have proves this beyond a reasonable doubt.
@Background Pony #80B4
I linked you to not one, not two, not three, but FIVE separate reviews doing exactly that.
You really have to ask?
You don’t like EQG, good for you. Stop quacking around here.
That shit is old so go whine about how much you don’t like it on images dedicated to that.
Or better yet, FILTER EQG.
You seem far too emotionally invested in convincing everyone that people who enjoyed Equestria Girls are wrong.
What plothole was there in Equestria Girls? Seriously, at least go into detail. Who gives a shit if everyone has opinions? I didn’t “conveniently” miss it, it has no relevance, or if anything proves my point because you can’t be right or wrong about a fucking movie no matter what problems YOU see with it. You can’t have informed opinions about a piece of entertainment which quality is 100% subjective and there is absolutely no objective answer to. Maybe stop raising your opinions as absolute fact if you want to make any decent point whatsoever.
“No, it’s not really objective.”
Yeah, they kind of are. Plot holes exist whether you want them to or not. They are not something you can just “opinion away”
“Believe it or not people can have different opinions than you”
Again, “Opinions are like assholes, everyone has them” Or did you conveniently miss that part?
“You can like lots of movies people say have these things, it’s not objectively wrong.”
Unless you actually have standards.
That’s why we have a difference between informed opinions and idealistic opinions (aka fanboyism.)
Just go away now. You’ve lost. It’s quite clear you have nothing of substance to argue beyond “LAWL MAH OPINION”
No, it’s not really objective. You can like lots of movies people say have these things, it’s not objectively wrong. Believe it or not people can have different opinions than you and might not even agree with you about the problems being there in the first place. :)
so… plotholes, plot conveniences, out of Characterness, Gary Studom, Dues ex Machinas, etc, all very objective basis for a proper informed opinion, don’t actually exist?
Heh. Of course not. I suppose I could have worded that response a bit better. Oh well. Spilled milk and all that.
What I mean is that when it comes right down to it, “enjoying a movie despite it having flaws” and “enjoying a bad movie that’s so bad it’s good” is roughly the same thing when it comes right down to it. In both cases you are acknowledging the movie is flawed, even horrible, and in both cases you are enjoying the movie despite this.
Granted, it’s not exactly the same thing, since you’re enjoying it for different reasons (in one you’re enjoying the good parts but cringing or going “meh” at the other parts, while in the other case your laughing at it because it’s so horribad that its ridiculous.) but all in all it’s still pretty close. Close enough, really.

It’s kind of sad actually that spike as a character was far better in this movie as a dog than he has been in the last two seasons as a dragon. One of the very few strong points about the movie was ironically Spike. Though the dog thing they could have done well without (not to mention it would have closed at least one plothole or two)
