@ABronyAccount did say that. Your username is included in the quote because it was a part of their reply to you.

You silly pony I didn’t say any of that.
1.5-2.5mm walls on hollowed pony models(10-12cm tall) are quite sturdy if exposed and cured properly. (Elegoo Standard ABS-like resin)
I heard there are some tougher, “engineering” resins available. Not sure about the price.
@ABronyAccount
bless yall soul
The method itself is older than FDM. It’s called SLA or Stereolythography, or simply Resin Printing.
It uses UV light source and lcd matrix to mask it. Resin itself is quite toxic(skin irritant). There’s also UV light, but the source is located beneath the resin vat so you don’t see it most of the time.
It has its pros and cons compared to fdm. Major pro is fidelity of details.
Major con is the process of slicing. Because unlike fdm, resin printing is mostly about supports placement.
Speed is also isn’t very fast, it mostly depends on model height as each layer has same time of exposure(except for the first few layers)

It’s called “SLA” (for StereoLithogrAphy for some reason) 3D printing, it uses a tub of UV-hardening resin and a back-lit LCD screen. Backlit with CANCER RAYS (aka UV). The UV light shines through places that aren’t blackened by the LCD display and harden the layer of resin they reach at the bottom of the tub, which is stuck to the build plate. The build plate is raised up by fractions of a millimeter and the next layer is hardened, lather rinse repeat.

Ok there is a 3d printer tag now so just one more question, is this method of printing newer or older? Can you per chance tell me the name of it? Ngl I kind of hope this is not one of those “the operator should leave the room” type of cancer ray.
It’s a machine that you fill with goop and it zaps it with cancer-rays which turns the goop into little solid plastic doodads, one layer at a time.
There’s an LCD screen between the goop and the cancer rays, and its picture casts a shadow everywhere that you don’t want the cancer rays to zap the goop. This way, only the parts of the goop that you want to zap with cancer rays harden into a layer of the doodad.
But because the cancer rays are super intense, the screen it uses to mask out the patterns for the doodads eventually wears out. So they have to be replaced after a while.

w8 I don’t get it. I am too much of a zoomer? What type of printer is that? What operation is she performing? She is luna such a cutie?
