[Theory]: This photo was taken after she was crowned “Queen”, but before the death of the previous Queen [who retired, but kept the Pegasus Crystal with her]. The crown can use ANY object that has that shape.
Queen Haven knew that “aquamarine crystal” was important (since she never took it out, not for sleeping, showering or swimming).
-> Even if she was unaware that it was a “potential source of magic”, she may had just kept it with her as a memento from her mother.

Again with the errors regarding Haven’s crown. Shouldn’t she have the Pegasus crystal in her crown if this is an old family photo?

We never knew even the names of the mother of Pear Butter or the father of Bright Mac [aka: the husband of Granny Smith (!) ], unless Apple siblings ever only had two grandparents…
-> It is my headcanon that some of the background ponies in the “foal!Buttercup flashback” that we see arguing over the fence could be them (otherwise all of them must be “cousins”, since any siblings would be present in photos or mentioned).

There’s no way the team has already decided how the entire show is going to go. If we press them hard enough, they’ll eventually realize it’s something we actually want to see and they’ll make it into an episode or more.
