“Inkie at War”
So. This was a bit of a journey.
It all started some weeks ago when I was thinking — “I should commission some art of my character”
Which lead me to the following thought “Hm. His new outfit has that whole open-chest-that-exposes-his-floof-when-he-turns thing that is hard to explain verbally. Maybe I should try my hand at drawing that first”
And that was just… A thought. It lay in the slow cooker for almost a month until I was browsing Derpi and saw the Equestria at War character portraits. And how they always had the characters at this fancy 3/4 angle that was just perfect for showcasing an outfit.
I thought “fucc it, I’ll draw him myself, in an imitation of the EaW portraits”
But then I thought “hey, I can make cleaner lines, probably, I’ve been getting better at this”
Then I thought “Hey, I could do textures, just get some off pixabay and such and apply them properly”
Then I thought “Hey, I could do shading. I never do it because I’m bad at it, but there’s so much detail here already, I should at least try”
For the background I lazed out, googled ‘medieval hall’, photoshopped in House Inkwell’s banner, and then deep-fried it with effects to hide it a bit ajdioajsdoashduiashdiuasdhasiudh.
The result is possibly the best thing I ever made. Definitely the one that took the most work, as it has been 3 nights.

While you are correct that if I just keep practicing I will eventually improve and might even be confident in the quality of my nonsense, there is something quite special about buying a commission. You just tell the artist what you want and sit back, and afteer a month or so you get to see some niceness that was made just for you. :’D
