I agree with this, though I also believe the creators used a simplified design for TyT because it was created on a lower budget compared to the specials/series, and was only meant to give fans something to watch while we wait for the special to be released. Keep in mind that the special and the series has the same overall animation style as the film, so if you liked the film animation, then chances are you will like the animation for the special and series. If you don’t like the animation for TyT (which is perfectly understandable), then you don’t have to watch it. No one is forcing anyone to watch anything.

It is not ugly, you just don’t like the shape. I can explain:

The shape design that they are drawn shares a lot of different informations, and we get different emotions and feelings through them, some of these emotions are just not our type. It’s like saying you prefer bananas over strawberries, they are visual taste versus visual taste, we could fight over it forever… However, we can always try to understand why we like one shape more than the other:

For example, the shape in the middle one shares a lot more age to it, like Sunny is a teenager in there, and the third one she seems to be a lot more like a child, and why is that? Because of the shape language: The middle one has tons of details which can show much more expressions, like she has passed through way more stuff through her life (and that’s why it shows us age development), and, in contrast with it, the third one has a lot less details: Note that almost all species of babies on Earth are usually too much perfect, rounded, with lots of curves, soft, etc., showings us how fragile, delicate, and cute they are, all of these informations are really solid and steady in our brains since before we are born and we simply understand they are like that, and with that we respond to it with tons of emotions and feelings (like “aww, that’s so cute!”; or, someone with a trauma for babies could look to it and say “holy cow, throw this thing out of my way!”), that’s why we could like/dislike them for so many different reasons depending on our own livings… But it doesn’t stays on that, a rounded face like the third one also shows other emotions and feelings which was taken in count when they were drawn, for example: Comedy! It’s just a lot more funnier and not so serious as the middle one. It’s a choice they’ve made in the design for a purpose — I bet the show is going to have tons of jokes and be just silly and fun…

Totally refuse the right one. The front face is fine but the side face in the trailer is not that cute.
