You probably already know that by now but we will see dragons again. If that baby dragon, Sparky Sparkeroni, isn’t just for a toy set.
If you are talking about their designs. Well, this had to be done to fit in a better way with 3D animation. If you are wondering about why the cutie marks only appear on one side of the pony’s flank, it’s because the movie director didn’t like cutie marks in both sides of the flank. He also stated that it was rather difficult to make it appear on both sides in 3D animation (I don’t know how that makes any sense. It should be easier).
But hey, since magic did return, we will probably see magical beings again in the upcoming comics and series.
The movie director answered that. He wanted to show that Equestria had lost its magic so he chose ‘normal looking’ animals instead of magical beings. It wouldn’t make sense to have magical beings around when there was no magic in the world.
